Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

If you figure it out, let me in on it. Then you can get to work on understanding women, and maybe whitetails.

I think a lot has improved and people are moving ahead and trying to get back in the game. When more people are buying stocks than selling the prices rise. The unemployment will be slow to improve but I feel there is work for most people if they want it.

It's been said the stock market is no indicator of how the rest of the country is doing. This seems to bear that out..

Yep. As an example, I read yesterday that for the first time, GM sold more cars in China than it did in the U.S. So, it's stock price might be doing well, even though the economy here remains weak.

While the economy still isn't great, people may feel it's bottomed out and starting up, it is a cycle. The people who do have money, are jumping back into the market, buy low watch it go up.

That and the stock market just doesn't make sense.

The market is going to go up till late spring.

Sell in May and stay away, until you see a cool fall day, then put your money back in play.

Keep in mind the DOW reflects how the companies in that particular group are doing as a whole. Government debt affects the government's credit rating more than it does the individual corporations, whom may have little to no debt with a wealth of assets.

Unemployment, while bad for those unemployed, translates to a surplus of employees for a corporation. More competition for jobs means reduced compensation is required to obtain the same level of skill.

Good debt to asset ratios and less compensation for maybe even a more skilled work force can mean an increase in the bottom line, increasing the value of the stock.
