She's considering a presidential run? Please, someone tell her that immigrants to the US did face discrimination and that John Quincy Adams was not one of this country's founders nor did he end slavery.
Plus, the 'documents' as to the founding of this country did not end slavery. This was no slip of the tongue -- the woman is trying to re-write history. Good luck to her on her speech tonite.
"“Bachmann (R-MN) also noted how slavery was a ’scourge’ on American history, but added that ‘we also know that the very founders that wrote those documents worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the United States.’
‘And,’ she continued, ‘I think it is high time that we recognize the contribution of our forbearers who worked tirelessly — men like John Quincy Adams, who would not rest until slavery was extinguished in the country.’
It’s true — Adams became a vocal opponent of slavery, especially during his time in the House of Representatives. But Adams was not one of the founders, nor did he live to see the Emancipation Proclamation signed in 1863 (he died in 1848).”
Speaking of morons, maybe someone should tell Obama that there's 50 states not 57...

Including him as a founding father was a mistake. But, if I'm reading the comment correctly, she did not say, nor imply, that HE ended slavery, merely that he worked tirelessly to end it.

OK, only a maybe on that one. What about this:
"we also know that the very founders that wrote those documents worked tirelessly until slavery was no more in the United States.’
What founders wrote some documents and then ended slavery? Look, you can spin it whichever way you want, but the woman does not know what she is talking about.
but the woman does not know what she is talking about.
So how's she any different then Obama?

Y'all see how folks change the subject? Anyone want to defend Michelle? She wants to be president!
Didn't they just have a Constitution reading? She must have missed it. She should have asked Scalia about this at her recent clambake. I bet he could have set her straight.
The founders absolutely worked hard to end slavery. History is full of examples. However, several states had laws against out right freeing them. Also if a bank had a lien on the property, slaves were property and they couldn't be release. Furthermore, you must look at the actions of the founders. The left like yourself likes to point out the Washington owned slaves and they are absolutely correct. However, under VA law, he couldn't free them. What he did do was never sell a slave which was a common practice for revenue.
