Did we expect anything less form Obama? He can't get what he wants through Congress, because he would have to "COMPROMISE", and he isn't about to do that in any meaningful way.
Instead, he acts like Clinton did, by doing it through his cabinet departments, and through rule changes midstream in a process.
Seriously, why the hell do any of these big companies give a rip what the EPA, OSHA, DOE, whichever bogus agencies have to say in the first place? What exactly is a "regulation"? These "agencies" do not make laws so exactly how is a "regulation" enforced if it isn't a law and what law enforcement department enforces these so called "regulations"? Why give a crap what they think or say.

Most coal fired generators do not use sub-bitumonous coals (eastern coal) any longer. They have switched to western coal for its low sulfur content. The issue is that the EPA has become a political arm of the enviromentalist. Everytime the industry has meant the limits set by the EPA, it changes the rules over and over again in an attempt to hamstring the American Economy. The organization needs to be defunded and its radicals investigated.
Sorta what i have been mentioning since obama got in.( you can bet he/ his party have changed policy , rules etc on these type things for awhile)
From what i read here( it was anticipated( before he set foot inside)- just the details where unkowen , like what size the monkey wrench would be & how many there where)
That he uses the epa( and other agencys)( as his own personal agenda tools- no suprize either i dont think.
Isnt it all just part of his campain promise( the ones in public)) he made & is now keeping? To put a lawfull busnisses( the coal industry) out of business?

It is worth mentioning that U.S. export of coal exceeded 40 million tons in 2010. This figure will rise considerably this year. Our biggest customer.....China. Without coal, their economy is doomed. The Greenies on the West Coast have forced the States to deny corporations, permits for the creation of harbors for shipping and the export of coal overseas, in an attempt to push their global warming agenda. Its time to defund the EPA.
Yes i heard china is buying up a lot of things everywhere to( much like russia)( including coal ,oil gas, uranium etc ) (oz sells im a bit of coal i think. And that they build a new coal power plant about every week( mth? ( every week cant be right can it?)( they even have a synfuel/coal plant)
But yep we( our gov) will sit with hands tied- let them harvest the oceans nearby, drill, mine etc- while we put more& more off limits to our own ppl & more ppl out of work , increase our regulations, restrictions & continue importing oil etc from idiots like chevez , iran etc etc.
Archs is one of the co who operate in the power river area here here i think- & combined black thunder with another to form one big one not long ago( pass threw it on the way to S,dakota).
Our(Wy) coal output has decreased some( not a lot i dont think, but some) since 08( record yr) since obama took over= right around - under 500 million tons - less tonage now if im not mistaken.
They where talking about the uranium boom here on the local tv today- things have been picking up in that area for a lil bit & more now( vast majority of it is being exported i believe)
But i do believe china has plenty of coal of there own if im not mistaken- just like we do.( but not the oil reserves) So they wouldnt be totally helpless if we withheld our exported drop in a bucket 40 mill ton.
Jmo but the epa & the greenies & dems etc arent going away.
But someone in office more like bush sure would be nice..

Activists in Washington State are attempting to repel a threat from outside their borders – from Montana, to be specific
Those are just the transportation concerns. They do not take into account the horrendous pollution involved in coal mining and the heartbreaking human toll that mining pollution and accidents take upon workers and nearby communities.

Edit to add- i thought some those comments(3?) on the bottom of this pages site where pretty good & the last one pretty funny to.

You are either a dupe of the anticapitalist left or an actual leftist yourself. Either way, your assertion that "China doesn't need the coal because over there, they have built, are building and will continue to build the infastructure needed to harness wind power and solar energy." shows you have absolutely no grasp of the system that makes the world function: Capitalism.

Floods disrupt Australian coal export, US coals fill market gap
By Essa Ronquillo | January 11, 2011 1:28 AM EST
As coal mining in Queensland came to a grinding halt due to floodwaters, many buyers run to U.S. coal producers to meet their needs.
Weeks of flooding in the northeast portion of Australia had so far deprived the world market of around 13 million metric tons of metallurgical coal after the waters shut down 40 open pit coal mining operations in Queensland, the world’s number one source of black coal used in the production of steel.
As coal mining in Queensland came to a grinding halt due to floodwaters, many buyers run to U.S. coal producers to meet their needs.
Immediately, U.S. coal producers, particularly from the Central Appalachian region which is the second biggest metallurgical coal supplier in the world, stepped in to meet the market need as buyers were forced to sacrifice quality and seek out alternate sources.

Yesterday on the radio I heard them explain away the predicted rise of gas prices to $4/gallon this summer. When Bush was in office, it was Bush's fault and those evil oil companies. Now we have Obama and his statement he doesn't mind $5/gallon, just not getting there so fast. What does the news say? Oh, the American people are use to it. They have bought better gas milage vehicles and changed their driving habits. It won't have that negative of an impact.
I'm not sure we can afford 2 more years of Obama. On the other hand, if he would slip in for another 4 years, we could see a meaningless president for the first time in history. The way Obama is going and with so many Dems, 23 seats,up for grabs, congress may enjoy a veto proof majority over Obama. That would be very interesting if it occurred.
