Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Anti gun and threatening language legislation

It didn't take the Democraps long to get the anti gun wheels turning.

Quote:
Just hours after six were killed and 14 others injured in Saturday’s horrific shooting incident in Arizona, politicians 2,300 miles away in Washington, D.C. began plotting a legislative response.

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, D-N.Y., one of Congress’ fiercest gun control advocates, is looking to strike while the iron is hot. “My staff is working on looking at the different legislation fixes that we might be able to do and we might be able to introduce as early as tomorrow,” McCarthy told Politico Sunday. Rep. McCarthy said that she plans to meeting with House Speaker John Boehner and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to see “if we can work something through” this week.

At the same time, another New York Democrat is blaming the pro-gun community for Saturday’s violent shooting. In a statement Sunday, Rep. Carolyn Maloney exclaimed that “guns kill” and that “those who glamorize gunplay or worship gun ownership do no service to humanity.”

Wasn't it already illegal in AZ to fire on a crowd of innocents, kill people, even attend said meeting with a firearm? Of course, and one more idiotic gun control law will make sure this sort of thing never happens again. No, the dems aren't out to get your guns.....

Well it will be an interesting test of Boehner's mettle. If he has a spine, he will put down the hankie and tell McCarthy to go pound sand.

I didn't see this thread and posted this info in the other thread. The links have some different info, so I'll place my post again here:

As nodog and Bergall alluded to, here is the all too predictable result. "Reps" Carolyn McCarthy and Mike Quigley can't wait to introduce anti-gun legislation, and Robert Brady will introduce legislation, "that would make it a crime for anyone to use language or symbols that could be seen as threatening or violent against a federal official, including a member of Congress."

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0111/47338.html

I believe the quote that was being tossed around belongs to Rahm Emanuel, "Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it's an opportunity to do things you couldn't do before." In other words, prey upon the fears of the people in order to seize control.

At any rate, as it is said towards those who aren't on board with our military agenda, "Freedom isn't free..." it is more aptly applied to this tragedy than war.

when it comes to responding to such nonsense,
keep your argument short and simple,

Remind people this was an ILLEGAL gun owner with an ILLEGAL gun, no additional legislation will change that,

the crowd in AZ were not armed,
if they were , may have prevented this or at least saved some lives.

additional gun restrictions on law abiding citizens will just make it easier for nut jobs such as this.

More reason to advocate citizens arming themselves, if there had been someone there with a CHL this idiot may have been stopped sooner. The best defense is a good offence. I don’t go anywhere without my side arm.

Just curious.... How was he an "illegal gun owner" and what was "illegal" about the gun? I understood it to be a Glock. Nothing "illegal" about Glocks, that I'm aware of...

Well, in Florida one must be 21 years old or older to own a pistol. The shooter is 19 years old.

shooter had history of mental illness, that makes him an ILLEGAL gun owner,
any gun in the hands of a ILLEGAL gun owner makes it an ILLEGAL gun, obtained ILLEGALLY
if someone else legally purchased the gun, then sold/transferred the gun to him, it is now ILLEGAL.
