Default Who is wrong, the party or Obama?

http://www.nationalreview.com/corner...katrina-trinko

Obama voted against raising the debt ceiling (Yea I know that one got you, Obama actually voted during his short time in the senate). Now the Demos want to raise it, so who is wrong??? Or is Obama going to go with the Demos demand in a blatant move that shows partisanship. It was wrong for the Republicans to do it, yet now we are told we will see serious collapses in the economy if we don't.

While I am against it, I believe the government will default on certain obligations if the debt ceiling is not raised....I do not know which position to take on this issue, as the consequences of a government default can be severe. My initial response is to make them cut social programs to 'find' the money they need to meet their obligations.....

I don't see how you get around it other than with a servely cut budget along with it and/or only enough to go into Dec. We have 2 budgets that still need to get passed. This years even though we are already into the second qtr and next years due in just 2 months.

Well, they have done this to themselves. They need to find ways to fix their own mess. Raising the Debt ceiling is not the answer.
Cutting spending is the only lasting answer to the problems that face this nation.

You're right. There has been a lot of talk about putting forth a balanced budget amendment. However, that would be a huge mistake. I use to support such a thing until I realized it would do nothing to restrict the size of government. In other words, government could stay at the size they are today as long as they steal enough money from us to balance the budget.

Instead, they need to move towards a limited government amendment. At minimum, they need to pass an amendment stating them federal government can only be 18% of our nations GDP. Back in the 80s the republican senate passed such an amendment only to have it die in the democrat controlled house. This year we have a real shot and if not this year, then in 2 years when dems must defend 23 senate seats. We have a strong hold on the house and control 34 state legislatures. We have the option of beginning this amendment in either the House or the states. If it was up to me, it would be set at 15%. If Dr. Williams ,who was involved in the first go around, had his way, it would be 10%. The reason why? If 10% is good enough for the baptist churn, it should be good enough for our federal government! With this amendment in place, it would force congress to make the hard spending choices instead of the god ol buddy system they have today with a blank check to boot.

There will be a deal struck and both parties will again claim victory. The Prez will soon realize that he needs to tap dance toward the center, in at least appearance, to have a chance at another four years. Its the old Trojan Horse rouge.

Obama or the party? Both are wrong, if you ask me. They spent and spent and spent and darn near destroyed this country.

I think debts and deficits are just political talk that no one at least in congress really cares about.

Cutting the defense budget in half would be a great start.
