"I will not raise taxes on anyone making less than $250,000 per year"
Obviously it's been broken already by imposing a cigarette tax, which I suspect disproportionately hits those in the lower income brackets. Now there's this:
Quote:
Homeowners who don't itemize will lose tax break
"A lot of Americans don't make so much money that they itemize their tax returns. But those same Americans own property," said Sen. Max Baucus. "It seems to me that they, too, should have the ability to deduct it."
By Steve Ohlemacher
-
The massive new tax bill signed into law by President Obama is filled with all kinds of holiday stocking stuffers for businesses: tax breaks for producing TV shows, grants for putting up windmills, rum subsidies for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
There is even a tax break for people who buy race horses.
Millions of homeowners, however, might feel like they got a lump of coal. Homeowners who don't
itemize their deductions will lose a tax break for paying local property taxes.
Yet, I suspect that most of the morons who voted for him the first time will vote for him again...
This is the most blatently dishonest administration in my memory--quite an accomplishment for politicians.

Dont be a mushroom or couch root veggie dudes
I think the rum & Tv shows & horse racing etc is ment to keep more ppl on the couch(, numbed & happyfied happy party campers but also( Tv( and other medias )& rum( and other substances to numb are great tools to brainwash to,( including re) educate, sedate , excite, sway the masses, steer & lead the sheep( the younger they are the easyier to teach & lead them), alter there emotions, program them, kill a few brain cells etc etc( tho mushheads come in yougin& old)
( propaganda is painless * & absorbed threw the eyes & ears)
There was a reason those( and yuppies to) hippies said trust no one over 30- thats why 30 should be the min age for those allowed to vote .
( obama jobs programs are Kinda like diging a hole you dont want or need- but gives ppl something to do to( payed for my taxpayers & others of course)
Sorry to hear about that tax thing though-im sure they have many various creative ways in store to steal & fleece more moneys from the public & taxpayers .

The problem with the tax bill that was proposed by the conservatives is that it will end up costing our country well over 800 Billion dollers (in earmarks) which is not solving the problem, it is adding to it. I am glad for tax cuts and extensions on unemployment for those who need it. The issue I have is why are there people that claim they want to stop the spending but turn around and propose a bill that will cost so much (money we really do not have).

Well, the cigarette tax was raised here in NY recently, and the idiots in Albany figured they'd raise another 250 mil or so in tax revenue...
Boy, were they mistaken...
They actually LOST money on the deal....they actually SLICED revenue by 50%.
Most people in NY live within reasonable distance to one of two places - Pennsylvania, where a pack of smokes is HALF of what it costs in NY, or near an Indian Reservation, where there's no tax on tobacco.
Yes, it affects the lower income people disproportionately.

Well, it's a GOOD thing that the cigarette tax will affect lower income people disproportionately. They voted for this slob expecting freebies and handouts.
Now they can pay his bills....
But as far as those same 'lower income people', they own little so itemizing their non-existent tax returns is a non-issue....for most, anyway. For those who do, like I said,
they voted for this slob, now they're paying the bill.

This tax increase appears to be specifically targeted. For MOST people, home mortgage interest is the big item that makes it necessary to itemize rather than claim the standard deduction. I make nowhere near the $250,000 threshold, but, I've got my mortgage paid down to the point where I pay very little interest, and as a result, it no longer pays to itemize. If I did itemize, I could deduct a portion of the real estate taxes that I pay on my house. Since I don't itemize, I will no longer get that deduction, at a net tax cost of about $250 per year. This one doesn't target "lower income people" so much as it targets those who have paid off, or have nearly paid off, the mortgages on their homes.

Same here- we dont itemize any longer - as i mentioned our house is payed for( payed off 9+ yrs early-( should have done it even sooner)
I should pay the banks more money so i can gain a tax deduction? Nahh. As i mentioned to we dont have to pay all those high Ny taxes anymore either( not for 20+ yrs now)*( pocket suckers)
I know for a fact though we sure the hell didnt vote for obama( and neither did the mojority of ppl in this state.)
