Bandits who prey on illegals gun down Border Patrol agent

A U.S. Border Patrol agent attempting to arrest bandits who prey on illegal immigrants was killed during a gunfight about 10 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border near Rio Rico, Ariz., 60 miles south of Tucson.

Agent Brian A. Terry, 40, was waiting with three other agents in a remote area north of Nogales late Tuesday when the gunbattle with the bandits erupted. None of the other agents was injured, but one of the suspects was wounded.

Mr. Terry, who joined the agency three years ago and was a member of the Border Patrol's elite Search, Trauma and Rescue (BORSTAR) team, died early Wednesday. Four of the suspected shooters were taken into custody. A fifth is still being sought.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano described the shooting as "an unconscionable act of violence" against those who serve and defend the country.

I guess it's good that I'm not a border patrol agent. There would not have been "four suspected shooters taken into custody."

It's pitiful. I won't be surprised if the perp that was wounded sues and wins, at least under the current administration.

Militarization would have happened by now if it were going to happen. Bush and company made no serious overtures to that effect and this crew is doing nothing meaningful either.

The stationing of US regular Army troops on the border is long overdue. It is a very sad situation when Border Patrol agents are murdered by illegal aliens. The current occupants of the white house have no inclination to do anything about the influx of illegal aliens.

To be fair the last administration did nothing either. Yep, the last bunch put two border patrolmen in jail for shooting a dope smuggling scumbag who was given immunity to testify against the the agents in court.

On a lighter note, the new Obama inspired US-Mexican border commission met about the time that agent was being murdered by a scumbag from south of the border. The exalted commission did come up with a plan to expedite the shipment of dope into the US.
