I think it's a tribute to those of us who believe in Christmas that we can be tolerant of businesses who attempt to avoid "offending" the extremely touchy non-believers out there. After all, it IS a religious holiday and it always has been. If you don't like a Nativity scene on the courthouse lawn, just ignore it. Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph, etc., have nothing to do with the Feast of the Nativity so let's leave them out of it.
It would make more sense for people to celebrate events associated with their own religion than to denigrate others. Buddhists could celebrate Buddha's birthday with the appropriate statue. Atheists could have their day, perhaps a booth with nothing in it. They would have to pick a day, or week, or whatever. If anyone wants to put up a display celebrating Shinto, I have some suggestions.
Do you find a little prayer at a football game or a high school commencement "offensive?" Well personally, I think you need a more productive hobby.
Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone and try to remember that, after all, SHOPPING is not the reason for the season.
