Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

It was always called *** day back in high school. You always needed to watch out for the pop quizzes.

Knew a lot of WWII veterans including two who were at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked. They were the Greatest Generation.

Cool

Although I am of ***anese descent, my immediate ancestors were already Americans in 1941, so I am not going to apologize for the attack, the war, or any of the atrocities committed by the ***anese. Nor, as an American, am I going to feel guity about Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The right side won that war.

Do you think you are supposed to get off that easily? The entire country of ***an was at war with the U.S. a mere 69 years ago.

In stark contrast, Southern slave owners (including black slave owners, not counting Northern slave owners) comprised maybe 10% of the population (on the high side IMO--that number suggests that 10% of all Southerners were extremely wealthy), and slavery ended over 145 years ago--but some contend that the entire South is still supposed to feel guilty over it.

Can't have your cake and eat it too you know.

**NOTICE** The above post is dripping with extreme sarcasm, just to make a point.

What in the world are you raving about?

I pointed out that I, and my family, for many generations back have been Americans although of ***anese descent. So I view the Second World War as an American would view it.

As for your second statement, in no way do I expect current Southerners to feel guilty about slavery. It only bothers me when I encounter someone whose attitude is the same as those held 145 years ago. And it bothers me just as much if that person is not a Southerner.

I don't see the sarcasm. Truly entertaining sarcasm requires a sharper wit.
