Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Poor Charlie Rangel Gets "Punished" Today

The ultra-liberal media makes censure sound like a trip to the gas chamber. In realiy, it is a slap on the wrist for a corrupt political hack. There is no jail time, no probation, not even a fine. It is significant that Rangel replaced the corrupt Adam Clayton Powell. as the representative from that NY City district.

If a run of the mill private citizen pulled the crap that Rangel did he would be sitting in federal prison. Members of the US house do not have the guts to come down hard on one of their very own, especially a minority member.

He'll stand in front of his colleagues while Speaker Nancy Pelosi — in one of her most solemn duties — reads him a resolution condemning his ethical misbehavior.

The House ethics committee took a hard line toward Rangel, 80, the former chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. Most past censures involved congressmen who enriched themselves. Rangel was not charged with lining his pockets, although he did fail to pay taxes for 17 years on income from a vacation villa he owns in the Dominican Republic.

What a joke-both wrangle and the proceedings. Big fat hairy deal. No wonder he didn't try to come up with the cash to keep his lawyers. He gets told he was a bad boy in front of Congress....whoop-de-do. Sickening.....

The US House Ways and Means chairman is the second or third most powerful position in that body. The Democrats like to have a well connected scurrilous congressman in that position. Case in point: Dan Rostenkowski. Rosenkowski was corrupt as a Mexican cop for decades. It all came to a head during the reign of Bill Clinton. But Clinton and Janet Reno refused to go after Rostenkowski until after he rammed the "assault weapons" ban through the House.

Rostenkowski did finally go to jail but he did not serve nearly as much time as he deserved.

Yep, he is getting a scolding and that is about it. And can you believe he has the hairy bean bag to actually lobby to keep his committee seat.
