This is a little bit off the politcal subject but what makes you smile. yesterday while haying a field my 9 year old son wanted to get down from the tractor and sit in the truck, I was expecting him to grab his game boy a pop and sit in the truck with the radio on playing, instead he grab a tennis ball and retrieving dummy and when I looked back he was working with our Chocalate Lab playing a little fetch it just put a big smile on my face to see it. Kids really are a gift from God. I hope more of you can look at your kids and smile for some reason.

Good topic even if it is off Topic, I will mention politics that way it is legit!
Night before last I had a BIG SMILE event, I spent the entire evening fishing with my 23 year old son who just got home from Iraq 2 weeks ago. When we started to head home he told me " Dad I had a great time!" , I said I had also and we hugged! It was a great evening, he had some things about the war to get off his chest and also needed just some good old fashioned father son time, I did to.[8D]

I am taking my 4 year old son out for a night of camping, and his very first fishing this evening![8D] I can' t wait.......he has a heck of a good cast developed already. But, I will be holding my breath once the real hooks go on! It will be a fantastic time, and yes, I will be taking lots of pics. He is my little ray of sunshine everyday, even when the days are overcast.
P.S. Taz, I am so happy to hear that you and Micah finally had your " fishing evening" , just the thought of it brings tears to my eyes!

Christine, you know Micah was a young lad like many of the others mentioned here along with you. I still have that little kid in my heart, he was there fishing with me that evening, the difference was he is now taller than me, cuts his own bait, baits his own line and cast it very well also. Before me stood a man, a man that had returned from war, but no matter how old he gets will still be the apple of dad' s eye! It is funny, but this is true for all my kids who are grown, even though they are adults and on thier own, they are still dad' s little kids.

this is not as sentimental as everyone else' s posts. Im only 19 so i don' t have kids, but i assembled a new grill yesterday and that put a smile on my face, it has 4 burners, a removable skillet, self igniting. Only thing it does not have is a built in thermometer. My mom bought it and did not really shop around. But that was the last thing i did that put a smile on my face.
I did alot of smiling yesterday. I spent the entire afternoon sitting under a walnut tree at my grandma' s house, holding my month-old grand-daughter, Emily. It' s the last time I' ll get to hold her for a long time; she left last night with my son and his wife to Bremerton, WA. From there they will head to Norfolk, VA where David will be stationed. Breaks my heart now, but yesterday was WONDERFUL!!
