Default Sens. Inhofe and McConnell Defend Pork Barrel Spending

Inhofe is the senior senator from OK. Inhofe has long been an advocate of pork barrel projects (earmarks). Mitch McConnell, senate minority leader, is also a advocate of pork barrel spending.

Quote:
DeMint issued a statement Tuesday that named 10 Republican senators who are publicly backing the earmark suspension. The list included Sens. Tom Coburn (Okla.), John Ensign (Nev.), Mike Enzi (Wyo.) and John Cornyn (Texas), and Sens.-elect Pat Toomey (Pa.), Marco Rubio (Fla.), Rand Paul (Ky.), Mike Lee (Utah), Ron Johnson (Wis.) and Kelly Ayotte (N.H.), many of whom were elected on anti-spending platforms.

The vote pits DeMint, a favorite of the Tea Party, against GOP leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.), who — like Inhofe — has argued that an earmark ban would do little to control spending while weakening congressional authority.

What do you care falcon? It's not Nov election time. We'll remind you when it's time to vote. What I find interesting is the fact the media feels the need to drive a deep wedge into the Republican party. I'm not too worried, we conservatives fighting for control will be kicking a lot more folks out of the Senate next go around. What about the majority party in the Senate that also whole hardly defends earmarks and want to see them continued?

Yep, its the awful media. It's always the awful media attacking those wonderful hypocritical long serving con-servative Republicans in the US congress.

The US senate is going to be the scene of a really big fight between the Democrats, aided and abetted by the entrenched Republican pork barrel hypocrits on one side, and the new Tea Party type Republicans on the other side.

Bring it on!!!

Wow, right over your head. No wonder you've lost you hair. Second, you didn't even vote for Inhofe, you voted for the Dem challenger. What was their position?

no not at all, just stating the facts, falcon. They went right over your head. I just love your infatuation with Republicans. I personally wouldn't mind seeing both out of office over this topic. However, the story is all about driving that wedge not the actual topic. Also once again, the people in charge are all for earmarks, the Dems which you hold no ill will over them on the topic. Isn't that a little hypocritical?

More BS, FM. Yep, the Democrats are totally putrid about pork barrel spending: But most of the scumbags are not hypocritical on that issue. Guys like McConnell and Inhofe are the worst kind of scum in DC-hypocritical scum.

Generally speaking...and painting with a broad brush, I find the biggest scumbags are in the democrat party. I don't care about the pork, they're just all scumbags and i'd like to see them onthe same unemployment lines they've drawn for the rest of their electorate.

as far as 'pork'...I'm kind of split on the issue....it's how an elected representative brings tax dollars back into his state for the good of the people living there. Do people want ALL their tax dollars to STAY in Washington D.C. ? EVERY dollar go to SS ? EVERY nickel to Medicaire/Medicaid ? This pork that's so hotly contested, is a miniscule amount of the federal budget that it's like giants arguing over crumbs. I believe federal tax dollars SHOULD find their way back to their states of origin in one way shape or form. Makes the investment somewhat worth it... A few billions out of trillions is not so much (they're a lot for an individual, to be sure), but it's entitlements that need to be looked at, as well as Pork, as well as so many other things...where's the oversight on government spending ? Is Barney Frank overseeing that too ?

Never said that. Hey falcon, last I checked it was REPUBLICANS not Dems leading the charge to ban earmarks. Soonce again you're showing your colors. You read one article designed for the purpose of driving a wedge into the republican party and you bit, hook line and sinker! Furthermore, McConnell caved over a week ago on earmarks. So now what exactly does it say about your article you bit on?

Driving a wedge into the very heart of the Republican party: How quaint, FM. You should join the Glen Beck show. lmsao.

Senate Majority leader Bob Dole lost the US senate vote on the balanced budget amendment because of a pork barrel Republican: US senator Mark Hatfield.

If not for porker Hatfield there would be no humungous US debt today. Hatfield got the JFK Profiles in Courage award for joining the Democrats in defeating the balanced budget amendment.
