Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Will they understand the message?

History was made yesterday, although it will be lost on many Americans.

America spoke. She sent many lefties to the proverbial Peanut Gallery where they belong.

Those who voted for that crew of arrogant, lockstepping spenders should get the message too, but they probably lack the integrity or intelligence to understand what just occurred right under their noses.

Now...the important part, the point where America truly reaches critical mass...

Will those who were elected remember why we voted them in and the other clowns out???

Secondary question: Will those on this forum who cheered the right when Bush et all spent like drunken sailors now apply the same standards to those who won yesterday???

My guess?
Question 1: I doubt it.
Question 2. I doubt it.

i won't bet a paycheck on the former. i have worked with politicians most of my adult life. they are, at their core, incredibly narcissistic. just like the last crew, this group will not understand that NO ONE VOTED FOR THEM. they voted against the excesses of the other guy.

as to the latter, sadly, probably not. politics has become a team sport, where team loyalty is more important than accountability.

No, they don't understand because the pundits say yesterday's message was America wants a centrist government. WTF? We want less government and less spending.

As far as anyone on here ever excusing Bush's spending, I don't know anyone. I do know of folks who have excused Obama's though.

The same Independent voters who gave the US house to the Republicans this go round will hand those same Republicans their hats in 2012 if they do not do right.

Maybe by 2012 we will have a real viable Independent party on the national ticket.

Ditto. I don't think any of it will matter. Whomever gets the power goes right on the same path. All we have at least for the next 2 years is gridlock which means nothing gets done and then the GOP will get bad public opinion because they failed to make any meaningful change for the better. The system is stalled out and the old guard on each side will ensure it stays the same. Political parties drive thinking from right and wrong to partisanship which has evolved detrimental to the country.

My guess is that many of them will. I am hopeful, after listening to new blood like Marco Rubio, and old guard folks like Boehner, who, at least in his speech, seemed to express the "right" sentiments, that they have gotten the message to get back onto a more fiscally conservative track...

Most of the "cheerleaders" for the right on this forum were very critical of Bush, et al, on a number of issues, foremost being "spending like drunken sailors" and lax border enforcement. We recognized, however, that the folks on the other side of the aisle, would spend like drunken sailors, drunken marines, drunken soldiers, drunken coasties, and drunken drunkards, combined. And, that has proven true.

Just curious.... Are you acknowledging that Obama, Pelosi, et al., have engaged in "excesses," i.e. that they have pushed too fast and too far to the left?

too funny. I wouldn't hold your breath ever. Independents stand for absolutely nothing. You guys follow the chow line. You put your finger in the air a week or so before election day, follow who's winning the 30 second sound bites, vote and then sit back down on the couch til next election. The whole reason you guys declare independent status is because you don't like confrontation. You get to go to social events and agree with whatever side you choose and in fact you guys do. I've seen you guys take both sides of the same arguments before.

Next election will be no different. The same old discussions will be made a week out, which side are the independents breaking for. The answer will always be, who is in the lead.

My feeling about independent is that they aren't directed by a specific party. Nothing wrong with voting your conscience based on right and wrong. Get rid of all the parties, elect new people with good ideas, enact term limits to eliminate excess power/ corruption and make real change based on what is right for America. The existing system is a joke.

CI, its not the party system that's a joke, its the American public who chooses not to participate, like independents. Let's not be involved. Let's not take a stand. However, come primary time, I want to vote in whatever parties primary if I so choose. Forget it. Independents shouldn't get the pass to choose any parties primary candidate. You only get to choose the winner in November.
