Life in prison???

I am not sure wheather I think this guy should get life in prison or not. But I am sure he will be released at his first parole hearing. But what makes me sick is the fact that people get sentenced to 5 years or even less for out right raping children, and this guy gets life for sucking on toes.

SANTA ANA, Calif. "” The former supervisor of a Newport Beach (search) youth program was sentenced Friday to life in prison on 25 counts of lewd conduct and assault for sucking the toes of 20 boys.

Trenton Veches, 32, will be eligible for parole in 15 years.

At his trial, Veches' lawyer said his actions with boys 6 to 10 years old were " horseplay." But the prosecutor said Veches " clearly befriended these children, manipulated them and he sexually molested them."

Veches' mother, Joyce Ormes, said the sentence was too harsh.

" I don' t know how he can spend life in prison for this when there was no sexual contact with the genitals, things like that," she said.

" Clearly Mr. Veches posed a danger to the children of our community and he needed to be in prison," prosecutor Sheila Hanson said.

Veches was arrested in April 2002 after a co-worker reported seeing him sucking a boy' s toes.

I' m not familiar with this particular case but the law in California regarding annoying or bothering children refers to if the suspect does it for HIS (the suspect' s) sexual gratification. I don' t know if the toe sucking gave him sexual gratification or not (ughhhhh) but can' t think of any other perverted reason that would sound more probable. Therefore, he was most likely doing this for sexual gratification.

In California, each count or charge of committing a sex crime (25 child victims means 25 separate charges and crimes) by law gets its' own sentence and those sentences must be served consecutively (the 2nd sentence starts after the first one ends, etc.) instead of concurrently which is where you only serve 3 years even if you got twenty-five 3-year sentences. So, even if this pervert only got 3 years for each crime, that would still be 75 years and would be effectively a life sentence.

Another issue to consider is that he was in a position of trust and higher responsibility by being a supervisor at a youth program. Of all people, he should know how such weird and stupid actions can seriously mess up these kids for the rest of their lives. That alone should deserve a life sentence.[:@]

Well when it is put that way it is more underdstandible although it still pi$$es me off to see child rapists getting light sentences, while a toe sucker (although an extreme pervert) gets life. In fact I may be wrong but I don' t seem to remember ever hearing of a child molester ever getting life.

Any adult that commits ANY type of sexual act with a child should just have there privates cut off. Why should we the tax payers have to feed and pay for this freak. Just cut his sh** off and return him to a job, if he bothers children again put him down just like a sick dog[:@][:@][:@]

It could only happen in CA. I left there 37 years ago and had never had any urge to return. SICK.
