Default Obama doesn't know where our natural rights come from

Did anyone else here his speach addressing the hispanic cacus? Obama was reading the opening lines from the Declaration of Independence off the teleprompter but left out "Alla" whe he spoke of our rights endowed by????? I guess, congress now gives us only the rights the liberals want us to have.

Kagan in her confirmation hearings had the same problem. She would not concede the fact that our rights come from God and not government. That alone should disqualify anyone from the high court.

If our rights only come from government then they can be taken away. I believe the reason many people hate our country, and want to change it is because they understand that if they accept the way our country was truly founded, it forces them to acknowledge their Creator.

This POS knows EXACTLY where our rights come from. The issue at hand here is that the troglodytes who support him do not..and hang on his every word. Watch to see more of this revisionist chicanery foisted on the terminally stupid....

I believe your statement needs some refinement. He knows EXACTLY where the Declaration of Independence says that our rights come from. That doesn't mean that he believes that "the Creator" endowed us with rights, nor that he even believes in a Creator.

Also... the Declaration of Independence may be the founding document of our Nation, but, the Constitution and Bill of Rights are the controlling legal authority. But, even there, I suspect that the "progressive" in him does not recognize the Bill of Rights as a protection from government intrusion on pre-existing natural rights, but rather as a government grant of rights and I'm likewise reasonably certain that he believes that "that which the government gives, the government can take away..."

Your right. In order to want to change the country, you have to know what it is that you want to change. I think this is a big part of that "fundamental change" Obama was talking about. It won't change the fact that our rights come from God. People like Obama, and the people he is putting in power can for the first time in our countries history change the government into a one that doesn't recognize that fact. If people refuse to accept and acknowledge their creator, history has shown that a government that assumes the role as god if a far worse alternative.

You don't even have to believe in a God to accept that we have natural rights that are not granted by the government. If you read the Second Amendment carefully for meaning, it does not grant the right to keep and bear arms, but assumes the right and states that it is not to be infringed.

Government is a creation of the people. Our government did not exist until the Constitution was approved by representatives of the people. Read the Preamble, "We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

And then, as you read it, you note that it is designed, not to limit our rights, but to limit the actions of government.
