I see that Michigan rose from 9th to 11th for 2010. Not really sure what would have a bigger impact on raising MI's rank - people losing their jobs and moving leaving a fatter population behind or the fact that people are losing their jobs and eating worse. As I've found over the years, it is very expensive to eat a nutritious well-balanced diet. Takes brains too. The fatter people get the dumber they get IMO.

I came from West Virginia, so I know something about the eating habits of people in that area. Folks in W.Va., Kentucky, Tennesee, Arkansas, etc. eat a lot of country ham and sausage and bacon and they use the pan drippings to make gravy. Then they proceed to sop it all up with some good home made biscuits. It's all damn good too! Are you guys insinuating that there is something wrong with being a little fat? Get a life! (as I swallow my biscuit)

I like to eat and drink just like the next guy. I will never be skinny. If I keep it under 550 then I am doing good and can get in and out of my stretch van.
Joke just in case people don't know me.
I don't have a van.

I thought this map was of the best tasting food in the country. It is by my experience anyway. It's funny how Miss. ended up the winner in this contest. Back in my younger "big eater" days, I once ate 9 whole fried catfish at a place in Tupelo Mississippi called Malones. I think there is a new Malones now, because the old one burnt down. They would keep bringing out more fish as long as I ate. You didn't even have to get up to get it. The fish was hot, light and fluffy. You just ran your fork up each side of the fish, and it was like cotton candy. About 2 hours later in the hotel room when the fish cooled down in my belly, I thought my belly was going to split. It sounded like a plump watermelon when I thumped it.
I wish I could still eat like that, and stay skinny.
Those were the days.

seems that high 'inner city' populations, coupled with MacDonald's, Burger King, Wendys, KFC, Popeye's and White Castle, are ballooning the population out unduly. Certainly, biscuits and gravy is quite the delicacy (I like extra butter on my grits, too !), but I feel that an population endemically obese is due to economics and availability of fast food.
It's no small wonder that the biggest killer of adult black males is heart disease...
