it gets better...it's a POLITICAL move to sway key states which stand to gain 70,000 jobs to fill the weapons orders. I don't have sufficient faith in the American electorate to trust they'll know the difference between 70,000 jobs, and 5 million jobs.

I don't have a problem with the Saudi government. They're a bunch of sheiks who are barely holding onto power, and they look to us to help them do so. It's some of their people I worry about. If we didn't arm Riyadh, the Wahhabi masses would take over the entire country.

Besides, the Saudis and the Iranians have hated each other for centuries. The House of Saud helps keep the nutjob mullahs across the Gulf in their place.

It is indeed pretty ironic that the Great Peacemaker authorized the sale, though...
