Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Obama bicycle

So I came across this picture on Drudge of the president riding his bicycle while vacationing in Martha's Vineyard:

Correct me if I am wrong, but back in the day, wasn't this style of bike called "a girl's bike?"

Edit: hhmm, the picture is not there after posting. Here is the URL:

No it's not a mountain bike. It's a beach bike. Yes, he does look like a dork on it. What a stupid looking helmet. I guess he's trying to promote the stupid bike safety laws.

It kills me that government feels they need to pass laws requiring bike riders wear helmets. Same goes for motorcycles.

I love that you guys always complain when you feel you're paying for something for someone else, but apparently have no issue with idiots passing along health care costs due to their own ignorance of safety.

No, You're changing the subject now. To have government force everyone to wear a helmet in a so called free society, is a subject about freedom. To cover that person's healthcare costs in the invent of an accident is an subject about socialism and it has no place in our society.

Now remind me who is the real idiot?

I think the issue should rightfully be handled with financial incentives that protect those of us who take appropriate safety precautions. Get in a bicycle accident when you're not wearing a helmet, you have an automatic $2,000 deductible so the rest of us don't get stuck paying the bill for your stupidity. Get in a motorcycle accident without wearing a helmet and it's a $20K deductible. Same thing for a car accident without wearing a seat-belt. That way you have the freedom to make an irresponsible choice and the rest of us don't have to pay for your irresponsibility. Capitalism at it's finest and no, Obama doesn't need to get involved. Uh-oh, I think I hijacked the topic.

Hey Cal, when your CEO of the insurance company, you can set this policy. Until then, the government needs to back off and the 3 dollar bill looking Obama can look that way if he wants.

He looks like a goober no matter the situation--he can't help it.

On the laws...it gripes me that adults are required by law to wear seatbelts (I personally know a lady who was killed by her seatbelt, and another person who would have been killed if she had been wearing hers)...but how man seat belts do you find on a typical school bus? Here in MS, there's one--for the driver. Guess our kids aren't all that important, at least when the state is in charge of them.
