Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Where is the oil?

I have to ask this question. Where is the oil? Where is all the enviormental damage so many on the board claimed would happen? I took the heat for saying it wouldn't amount to much. BP was shaken down for 20 Billion before stepping into the court room so that cooler heads could prevail.

Today we have an area that suffered major economical loss due to bad/false news reporting, not from the oil spill. A portion of the 20 billion in shake down fund is being stolen due to fraudulent claims. Many billions more were lost in retirement accounts and pension funds due to the public beat down of BP. The gulf area got another kick in the bullocks when a ban on drilling. That ban contiues today for no reason other than the left hates oil and jobs.

So what about the enviorment? The marshs did their job. They took on the oil and defeated it. The oil soaked marshes are already growing again. New grasses are shooting up. Mangrove shrubs are showing growth. The microbes in the gulf did their job. They ate the oil. They were happier than NFL lineman at an all you can eat buffet. The sun did it's jobs by evaporating what oil it did.

It's all part of the game, more reason to stop off shore drilling!

FYI, we will never run out of oil on this Earth and that is a fact.

Second, there is so much fricking oil all over the place, for your lifetime, your children's lifetime and your Children's children's lifetime, we will still be an oil based society.

Hockeydad- I don't even know how to respond to your post. It's scary that someone can even belive what you just wrote.

Fieldmouse- I think there was more damage than you are saying but I still agree with you. The left used this as a way to take even more control and cost us more jobs. The price per gallon has been going up every week. There is no telling how high it will go now.

I am not a geologist or even particularly knowledgeable about petroleum for that matter. Would you please explain the above? That is not meant to sound sarcastic. Because I have heard that before, that we will not run out of oil.

Well I guess you can take FieldMouses word for it

OR

you can go with Dr Colin Campbell former chief geologist and vice-president at a string of oil majors including BP, Shell, Fina, Exxon and ChevronTexaco. He explains that the peak of regular oil - the cheap and easy to extract stuff - has already come and gone in 2005. Even when you factor in the more difficult to extract heavy oil, deep sea reserves, polar regions and liquid taken from gas, the peak will come as soon as 2011.

OR

you can go with BP (British Petroleums) Statistical Review of World Energy, which shows that the world still has enough "proven" reserves to provide 40 years of consumption at current rates.

OR

you can go with the London-based Oil Depletion Analysis Centre, which says that global production of oil is set to peak in the next four years before entering a steepening decline.

OR

you can go with Chevron who say in their ads that the world is currently burning 2 bbl. of oil for every barrel of new oil discovered.

OR

you can go with ExxonMobil who say that 1987 was the last year that we found more oil worldwide than we burned.

Fieldmouse or the oil industry? Who to believe. Does Fieldmouse somehow know more than the people that are actually providing the oil? You decide.

I suppose if you believe in the magical oil fairy that comes and replenishes the oil wells when they run dry, then the oil be will plentiful forever. If however, you believe that oil is a fossil fuel created by high temperature compression of a finite number of past living flora and fauna, then it is simple common sense to know that the oil can and will peter out.

One last thought from the Insider:
Quote:
In the 21st Century we rely on oil (petrol) and gas for transport - cars, lorries, ships, aircraft - as well as electrical power. We cannot survive without oil and gas, and when the supply runs out the great engine of Western civilization will finally grind to a halt. We are heading for an event that will be remembered as one of the great disasters of human history, and life is going to get harder for everybody as the day of reckoning draws nearer.

In the years ahead, wars will be fought over oil and fuel as the oil-dependent superpowers struggle in vain to preserve our unsustainable way of life. We are entering a period of great change and there are difficult times ahead. The process has already begun. Students of prophecy will be familiar with certain relevant verses from Christian scripture concerning the signs of the end times (Matt. 24.8; Mk 13.8, Rom. 8.22; Rev. 12.03, 21.1-4). As it was translated in 1961 in the New English Bible: "With these things, the birth pangs of the new age begin" (Mt.24:8; Mk.13:8). Whether you are religious or secular, you should be aware that the tide of history is turning.

The law of basic economics. As the price of oil rises so dose the attractiveness of exploring for and recovering oil from more expensive fields. However, there will come a day when getting that oil out is more expensive than other forms and oil will be abandon. Unfortunately, the liberals are trying everything in their power to quicken that day.

You can use fast pyrolysis to convert plant material to a "bio-oil" product that can be further refined to usable petroleum like products. The Germans first started using the process in WWII when their access to oil diminished, but the cheap access to oil resulted in very little scientific research to further usages of the bio-oil. The current units available can help the environment by using material that is difficult to get rid of, like stable waste, chicken litter, etc.
