Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Chinese carrier killing missile

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100805/...carrier_killer

The weapon, a version of which was displayed last year in a Chinese military parade, could revolutionize China's role in the Pacific balance of power, seriously weakening Washington's ability to intervene in any potential conflict over Taiwan or North Korea. It could also deny U.S. ships safe access to international waters near China's 11,200-mile (18,000-kilometer) -long coastline.

Yep, they've been working on this for a long time. It'll come in handy when they make their move on Taiwan, or more likely, on the Spratly Islands. The next ten years will be very interesting, to say the least...

Default boasting the capability

and actually engaging a US carrier are 2 different things...land based presents a problem also...reminds me of a riddle I had heard some time ago... "what does Saddam Hussein and George Custer have in common??? They both wanted to know where in the heck ALL THOSE TOMAHAWKS were coming from."

I doubt the US Navy is very concerned though this might send a few more dollars their way.

Not during THIS administration; libs hate the military.
I would suspect that some sort of remediation technology is already in the works...at least I HOPE so....

That's exactly right.

What really gets me is the fact that a weapon designed to take out ships (quite possibly ours) from 900 miles away (and a whole heap of other things) are being funded by Joe Taxpayer from the United States of America through our massive debt to China.

hmm....that's all well and good, but you can't un-ring a bell. The ChiComs have a carrier-killer missile (as it's being called). There must be an immediate response to this threat from the Pentagon in the form of defensive and/or offensive remediation to nullify the threat.

lots of countries have had carrier-killing missiles for years (and other means of dealing w/carriers). Most are our friends, some aren't.

If we'd have shot it out with the Russkies in the 80s, we'd have lost some carriers.

I'm not quite sure how it's being funded "through our massive debt to China." That is caused by them loaning US money... (as a result, they've got LESS money to spend on missiles and stuff).

Buying cheap stuff from China, and massive debt to China are two different things.

I would think that "funded by Joe Taxpayer from the U.S. of A. through our massive purchases from China" would be more accurate.
