Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Rangel Cuts Deal-Avoids Trial

Yep, Rangel has cut a deal with the "ethics committee". Pelosi lied when she said that she would clean up the stinking swamp. Nothing ever changes in the corrupt US congress.

This statement pretty much says it all:

Quote:
"Earlier in the week, he told CBS 2's Marcia Kramer that he feels his constituents will forgive him for anything that happens in the midst of the scandal. "
Every one of his "constituents" who actually vote for this criminal again is a moron and no better than a thief himself.

Sad part is he'll probably get re-elected. Stinking hypocrites. If it were a Conservative, they would have already been forced to resign.

They're all criminals, so they protect their own, no surprise here.

Now he says he hasn't cut a deal, isn't admitting anything, and isn't even going to appear at the hearing. Probably got that phone call he was waiting for....

LBR is right. It appears that the "ethics committee" has not bought the deal. Rangel may well be the sacrificial goat. Pelosi says that she is resigned to a trial:

"The chips will have to fall where they may politically," she told reporters. Pursuing ethics cases against House members is "a serious responsibility that we have," she said.

Now, that's overly harsh.

Do you think Tom DeLay couldda been re-elected in TX? I don't think you would apply those sort of terms to Texas residents.

Or, what about the people who vote for Hayward in AZ after that guy was cheek by jowl with Abramoff?

Hmmm, really? So tell me again what ever happened with those political trumped up charges that Delay was charged with?

Harsh? I don't know... I pretty much had the same opinion before the ethics charges. So, that kinda renders the Delay question moot. Note that I also feel the same way about Minnesotans who voted for Al Franken.

It's intriguing that if a Republican gets involved in this kind of stuff, he is typically pushed into resignation or is not re-elected, even if the charges are nothing but trumped up political BS. If it's a Democrat he typically thinks "So what? I'll still get reelected." J.D. Hayworth is generally referred to as "Disgraced Former Representative Hayworth."

I don't know. When's his trial? Has the indictment been dismissed?
