Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Oklahoma Will Have A Female Governor in 2011

Yesterday OK held its primary elections. The Democrats chose Lt. Gov. Jeri Askins and the Republicans chose US Rep. Mary Fallin. Fallin has previously served as Lt. Gov. Both candidates are conservatives.

That is something that I can't understand. Why in the world would a conservative run on the dem ticket? That goes against the national platform.

I'm no politician, so I simply can't wrap my head around it. Could someone explain? It's like a liberal running as a Republican--makes no sense.

Prior to 1964 both political parties had their conservative, moderate and liberal wings. In 1964 the Republicans started a turn to the right and the Democrats started turning to the left.

Things in this state are a little different. Most Democrat politicians in the OK legislature are conservatives; only conservatives get elected in about 80 percent of OK: Democrats in the legislature are of necessity, conservative. The OK "Stand your ground law" was signed by our Democrat governor. There are a few gerrymandered districts in OK where liberals like Opio Toure get elected to the legislature.

interesting....I tend to agree with LBR insofar as why they would remain democrats when the national party has disenfranchised them. Nevertheless, we are dealing with LOCAL
politics here, not national and that's where 'politics' starts, the local and grassroots level. It's just refreshing to hear that not ALL democrats are vile and malignant.

We will be getting rid of our dem govner soon- a ( r) womon could replace him. Kinda doubt a another dem will this time around- dem, dems are getting kinda rare here. We have had a number of dem govners in the past.

Hopefully the ppl have learned there lesson here though- and that is poltics never stays local( but i think they may have a short memory)- as gov dave did help BoBo get elected & electing a dem on a national level is not at all good for this state.

There are no Dem representatives from this state sent to Dc- and that is a very good thing imo.

I think the first womon gov in the US was from Wy.

Not to be disrespectful of your topic, but is that in anyway a big deal? Or are you just bringing up a topic of conversation?

Just wondering since there have been female governors in the past and it does not seem like that big of a deal...to me anyway.

Gov Dave did beg his fellow dems in DC at least a few times as was reported in the local news i believe - to please stop costing us millions *& millions of dollars & our state jobs- stop messing with the fed oil ,gas etc leases etc etc etc.

Now i dont know what Dave expected( he must know what his party stands for on a national level & there various agendas )- and did he not see bobo,s campain promise to put one of our biggest employers out of bussiness.
