Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Obama's Commission on Debt and Deficits...

So, Obama appoints a commission to study the debt and deficits and make recommendations. And, what do they have to say? Dear Obama.... You're destroying America.

Quote:
BOSTON -- The co-chairmen of President Obama's debt and deficit commission offered an ominous assessment of the nation's fiscal future here Sunday, calling current budgetary trends a cancer "that will destroy the country from within" unless checked by tough action in Washington.

The two leaders -- former Republican senator Alan Simpson of Wyoming and Erskine Bowles, White House chief of staff under President Bill Clinton -- sought to build support for the work of the commission, whose recommendations due later this year are likely to spark a fierce debate in Congress.

"There are many who hope we fail," Simpson said at the closing session of the National Governors Association annual meeting. He called the 18-member commission "good people with deep, deep differences" who know the odds of success "are rather harrowing."

Bowles said that unlike the current economic crisis, which was largely unforeseen before it hit in fall 2008, the coming fiscal calamity is staring the country in the face. "This one is as clear as a bell," he said. "This debt is like a cancer."

The commission leaders said that, at present, federal revenue is fully consumed by three programs: Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. "The rest of the federal government, including fighting two wars, homeland security, education, art, culture, you name it, veterans -- the whole rest of the discretionary budget is being financed by China and other countries," Simpson said.

"We can't grow our way out of this," Bowles said. "We could have decades of double-digit growth and not grow our way out of this enormous debt problem. We can't tax our way out. . . . The reality is we've got to do exactly what you all do every day as governors. We've got to cut spending or increase revenues or do some combination of that."

"Destroying the country from within." That's Erskine Bowles, a Democrat, former Chief of Staff under Clinton, talking. And, he was appointed to this job by Obama. Pretty much what I've been saying... Obama is willfully attempting to destroy the country by spending us into bankruptcy, so he can force upon us a Socialist state. A vote for Democrats this fall, or for Obama in 2012 should be considered treason. This country is in dire need of fiscal conservatives. Not "conservatives" like George Bush was a "conservative." We need guys like Gingrich, who nearly had us to the point of a balanced budget... And, I don't give a rat's rear end for those of you who say "Gingrich is no good because he had an affair, or he got divorced." Big effin' deal. We need someone who can take the reins of government and bring this monster under control. The problem is a whole lot bigger than "ooooooohhhh.... he cheated on his wife." He was the smartest guy in DC fifteen years ago, and it's been going downhill ever since he left as Speaker. And, he's the only one currently on the R-side with the gravitas to turn things around. Palin? Please. She's got the right values, but, when it comes to actually getting things done politically in Washington, she couldn't shine Gingrich's shoes.

What Ipsy said. This country is circling the bowl, waiting for the deluge of water to flush it down the drain. That deluge is the huge budget deficits being run up by the Obama bunch.

I watched Bowles on TV yesterday.

Ditto.

And furthermore (c'mon! When have I EVER written less than 500 words in a post?!!!) . . .

Actually, I was thinking there is no particular surprise in this finding. I think what will be interesting is the remedy that this commission proposes for this obvious problem. My guess -- strongly increased taxes. Put the thinking cap on. The president is a Democrat. What do Democrats do? You, the boy with the propeller hat in the back of the class room, yah, you! "Tax and Spend! Or possibly spend and then tax?" Yes, little gufus, you got it right.

I expect the commission to propose that the remedy for the deficit spending is NOT reduced spending but rather increased taxes, significantly increased taxes. We have already been prepared for this by some trial balloons already that voice the opinion that we are not taxed enough, that we are selfish and should pay more for our services. The "rich" don't pay enough taxes, but it ain't only the rich who are going to pay more taxes to make this deficit go away without major spending cuts. So get ready middle class, you pocket is about to be picked big time. Mark my words, you'll notice the difference,

The problem is that all Obama will use that report for is to justify raising taxes. He won't cut spending. Ear marks and pork spending won't be cut. Obama will blame Bush for the deficit and say that we need to "tighten our belts" and hit us with a tax increase, but he'll wait until after November to do it. Either with a lame duck Congress or with a Congress of newly re-elected Dems.

Yep.. you get the feeling the definition of rich is about to change to anyone making over 40k a year. Id love to see them start sending welfare checks with taxes and everything held...

They aint seen deficit yet...wait til this albatross they callin ObamaCare sets in... then you'll see deficits. However there were those on here who argued... some even nearly violently for that silliness... funny thing is they seem to have disappeared now... or post very little never mentioning it.

woo hoo....as the president's pos reverend stated: AMERICA"S PIGEONS ARE COMING HOME TO ROOST !!!

hehehe.... The democrats are nation-killers, to be sure. THey literally cannot tax the american people enough to dig themselves outta the hole they're in. They have GOT to cut spending....

Of course, it would never occur to them that it's the ECONOMY that will get us back in the black (eventually) and that tax CUTS are what are needed, and spending cuts as well. But can't teach a moron too much in 1 sitting, I guess.....

I think my dog is a democrat. She's fat and lazy, and her only two tricks are "sit" and "beg."

Nope... Not blue. She's a mixture of Miniature Pinscher, Pomeranian, and Chihuahua. She's part black, part brown, part white... Maybe she's related to Obama...
