The LA County jury found Mehserle guilty of involuntary manslaughter. The media is hyping everything and some idiot protester is greedily grabbing his 15 minutes of fame. The victim's family is (and has been) telling people not to commit violence if they disagree with the verdict as violence does not solve anything. Pretty classy IMHO. I just read the AP article about the conviction of Mehserle. Do not be surprised if the resident white house idiot and his bud Holder call this a federal case.
Considering the jury pool in that part of the state, it could've been a lot worse for him. I've read a few articles about the shooting and indictment, and it seems to me that Mehserle screwed up no matter how you look at it. It's a shame. He has to live with the conviction, but other cops on the street will have to deal with the fallout.
Dang shame...if the perp hadn't struggled, he wouldn't be dead and the cop wouldn't be in jail.
