Recently heard it costs more to produce a penny than they're worth, same goes for the nickel I believe, ie 3 cents to make a penny and 7cents to make a nickel, something along those lines.
Should we remove the penny from our currency already?
Also what's with stamps always costing odd numbers? 39, 46? make them 25, 35, 50, etc...right?
No, the penny should be kept around, if for no other reason than to remind us of the devaluation of our money, backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Treasury.
Sure, we could save billions by ditching the penny, eliminating the paper dollar bill (like Canada and the UK) and by eliminating Saturday delivery of mail.
I say we goto 7 days/week mail delivery, but instead of requiring mailmen to work 6 days, everyone works 5days or 4days whatever, and people will cover more than 1 route depending on what day...
