CA Awards Jaycee Dugard 20 Million

Jaycee Dugard was kidnapped by Philip Garrido when she was 11 years old. The kidnapper held Jaycee for 18 years and sired two kids by her. Garrido was on parole: His parole officer never discovered that Jaycee was living in a hut in Garrido's back yard.

The state of CA was anxious to get this suit out of the way because a jury may have given Jaycee a much bigger award.

Assemblyman Jim Nielsen, R- Yuba City, said it was wise for the state to pay the claim quickly rather than fight a court battle that he said "exacerbates the grievous loss of the victims and the lifelong condemnation and pain of their families."

He predicted the state also will pay claims as well in the case of John Albert Gardner III, who pleaded guilty to killing two San Diego County teenagers.

Garrido has been threatened with rape and death by his fellow inmates.

The money for the Dugards will come from the state's hard-hit general fund, which pays for most state operations

If California taxes her award, she probably will end up with a toaster. If she does better than a toaster, I would move to Texas.

The Gov. announced he's putting all State workers on minimum wage also...but if the $20 million makes this lady happy and able to live a normal life then it's probably a good thing. At least I know some of my tax money is going to someone that truly went through hell and can use some help...

It's time to start putting sex offenders away and keeping them locked up PERMANENTLY. I can't even imagine being taken at the age of 11 and used that way for 18 years. There is no punishment that could be too cruel for Garrido.

Give her the money and then electrocute/shoot/inject the piece of crap that committed the crime and don't stall feed him for the next 40 or so years like they probably will.
