Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Weekly Jobless Claims Rise 13,000 to 472,000

Does surprise anyone? What do you expect to happen when more of our liberty is taken from us by this administration. It might end however, promises from Obama show he's not satisfied. Obama wants even more of your freedom.

That is just a 2.8% increase. I assume there is some "noise" and/or "jitter" in these kind of statistics. I don't know how much I would take away from the increase.

At the same time, I am of the opinion that the stimulus didn't help and isn't helping things, that the administration is doing things that discourage economic growth and/or recovery, and I see no reason to suppose things are going to improve substantially in the near future. To some extent I do not think it is government's role to drive or fix the economy. I'm not a Keynsian (where are all those Keynsians to defend the great results of this gigantic Keynsian stimulus?). At the same time, imposing huge new federal programs (health care for example) which impose new burdens on companies during ticklish economic times, gorging on a huge banquet of borrowed money (with the implication that taxes will be raised to help pay back the borrowed money) doesn't contribute to economic growth.

Yep, a severe recession is surely lots of fun unless you are one of those who loses your job.
