Default Something I just noticed...

I was looking at the pictures that were taken today when the president announced McChrystal's firing. General Petraeus was by the presidents side. And obviously they were outdoors.

Why didn't Petraeus have on his "cover?"

My guess is he was told to remove it for the photo op. That's something that is beat into your head from day one in the military (in the Army at least)--if you are not under a roof, you have your lid on.

um......maybe the General in full regalia including cover, was a bit too intimidating
for President Puke ? Might make him seem the weaker of the two when the pictures are developed....

Because he's a General. That's not the right answer but that's the way it is sometimes. Generals feel since they write the majority of the policies, they have the discretion to follow it when it suits them. I've seen 3 star Generals walking around in uniform with no ribbons on just because they can.
