Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default After reading this i think the temp in hell just dropped a lil.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100607/...europe_economy

"Europe's outlook darkens as Germany, UK make cuts"

It is just off yahoo and is shy in details, but isn't Europe (EU more specifically) supposed to be the place where they raise spending, leading the way in the Welfare State as we know it today? I have a hard time believing that ANY European country will cut spending before we do, but believe I may have to. Hopefully America, as a country, follows suit, although I am sure Europe is labeling the changes as temporary, hopefully we follow through and stick with it. This just grabbed my attention as I was gettin online to check my emails.

I think the current folks in power are of the belief that "It didn't work over there because WE weren't in charge." Morons. Every single one of 'em... Incapable of learning from history. Even FDR's Secretary of Treasury recognized that the government can't spend us out of an economic down-cycle:

Quote:
FDR's Treasury secretary and close friend, Henry Morganthau, conceded to Congressional Democrats in May 1939: "We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and if I am wrong ... somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises ... I say after eight years of this Administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started ... And an enormous debt to boot!"

Morganthau's words should be heeded but they will be ignored by people who think they are somehow smarter, luckier or just better. They're not and the results will be the same.

We are on the Highway to Hell... To see what's in store, maybe a regurgitation of "The Grapes of Wrath" might be in order. Sad times ahead for lots of folks, that's for sure.
I'm wondering how the 2010 midterm elections can stave off this armageddon because I am convinced that WE can survive the demise of Greece. We can limp along without Germany and Hungary won't be missed. Great Britian will be devastating for us, surely, when they collapse. THese are all euro-nations with a socialist bent who's populations are weaned on public money. The world might find itself in a whole lotta hurt when the U.S.A. collapses under the weight of it's own debt and is carved up by it's creditors. And that's an 'Unprecedented Honor' to be held by the democrats, for sure.
