Default Question for the lawyers and/or others

I'm not sure if anyone responded to this question I posted on another thread. Heck, can't remember the htread i posted it on. I don't think it was that important.

Anyway, does an international treaty trump our constitution. I want to say no, but for some reason I thought this had come up many many years ago and the Supreme Court ruled yes it does. If the answer ends up being yes, I have a follow up to that.

Fyi, if the answer is no, then the follow up doesn't matter.

The Constitution is the supreme law of the United States of America. Treaties are approved by the senate but do not trump the constitution.

What are you getting at?

Nothing, just a legit question because a previous post I posted got me thinking. I want to make sure treaties don't trump it. I do remember some case that went before the SC and they ruled a treay trumps (whatever) was in question. I don't remember if it was law, fed law or a constitutional arguement.

See Reid v. Covert, 354 U.S. 1 (1957) Justice Black writing, "... no agreement with a foreign nation can confer power on the Congress, or on any other branch of Government, which is free from the restraints of the Constitution."

I hope this answers the question.
