I heard someone had a car accident while driving to work this morning... From this day forth, all auto transportation is banned. From now on, everyone must take public transportation.
Oh... wait... A couple weeks ago, one of the metro buses collided with the metro rail. No public transport folks. Everyone must walk.
What? Sprained ankles?!? Nevermind. Nobody work. Everyone just stay home.
I do not have a problem with any kind of drilling so long as it can be done safely with due concern for the environment. Problem is that political pukes on both sides of the aisle in congress are in the pockets of the oil companies. Obama is in the pockets of the oil companies big time.
For at least 15 years the US agency charged with overseeing drilling, the Minerals Management Service, has been totally corrupt and incompetent.
Someone at BP modified the blowout preventer so drastically that when they tried to operate the thing from the sea floor the configuration in place did not look anything like the as manufactured device. Someone in the MMS authorized the modification of the BOP and allowed BP to remove one of the safety devices. The battery in the BOP was dead. There was a loose fitting that spewed hydraulic fluid when the emergency shutoff was attempted.
For the past two weeks i have been getting almost daily updates on the environmental disaster in the gulf from a marine biologist and college classmate who is there. There is a very good chance that much of the two million acres of oyster beds are dead or dying from oil pollution.
All deep sea drilling should be immediately stopped and not allowed to resume until the feds and the oil companies get their acts together.
The concept that we can drill our way to cheap oil is a very flawed one:
1. The US controls five percent of the oil on the planet. The US uses 20 percent of the worlds oil.
2. All oil is sold on the world market at world market prices.
. The US controls five percent of the oil on the planet. The US uses 20 percent of the worlds oil.
How in the world can you make this statement when something like 95% of land remains unexplored with our new technology? You have to actually look for it before you find it. Wouldn't you agree falcon? Brazil started looking and found so much oil, they have jumped high on the list of oil producers because of it.
Thank you Obama, you guys are screwed. Oil is going up in price. New on shore drilling hopefully will finally start up again.

Obama fired the head of the MMS. He will have to do a lot more firing before it gets him off the hook.
Yeah.....and he should remember to shut the lights on his way out...hehehhe
No matter how folks deny it, if you're in a Southern Coastal state,
with hurricane season thundering down on their heads, and God knows how many thousands of barrels of oil yet to make landfall...this WILL be Barry's Katrina, and rightfully so.

You have to be banned. This is the second time I've laughed at your posts in less than a day. My ribs are still broke and it hurts to laugh.

Yes, this will end up being a big polical hit and rightly so for Obama. However, in the long run, everything will quickly recover (relative term) and end up not being as bad as it's playing out to be right now. Good-nasty pics make for a good size viewing crowd. I bet we end out finding these marshes are very well designed by God and can fair pretty well through all of this.

The heavily polluted marshes are dying and will wash out to sea. God put those marshes there for us to use and care for and we have trashed them. Spent two months in the Niger delta searching for explosive ordnance. The place is literally awash in oil thanks to Shell. Farmers can't grow crops because the oil is in the soil.
20 years after the Exxon Valdez wreck the wildlife in parts of Alaska are still effected by that oil.

Well, I don't hold up so much hope for the resilience of the wetlands.
Those are fragile ecosystems which are extremely easy to fatally upset. Once the ecological balance tips, it turns into a wasteland.
I do not want to see what CAN play out there ! The blame however, DOES go to the administration; not for the spill, but for the complete and total lack of mobilization and recovery efforts which are paid for in the form of tax dollars on crude oil. It's paid for, and the people who stand the most to lose in those Gulf states are complaining they don't even have a contact in the admin to call for government assistance and aid in the cleanup. It's a disgrace. And WiLL is right, we SHOULD"A listened...and NOT elected a good-for-nothing, crap-4-brains, unqualified, inexperienced clown as our idiot-in-cheef.
