Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default This guy should be locked up for sure!!!!

This kind gives moral and ethical hunting a bad name to non hunters...The good thing that came out of it was, a Michigan hunting forum helped stick it to the moron.http://www.dailytribune.com/articles...7629323721.txt

The guy should go to jail. Reminds me of an OK poacher who was known for killing trophy deer out of season. The guy trespassed on posted property and killed a big buck out of season. Then he sent the head to a taxidermy that, unknown to the poacher, was run by a game warden.

They started watching the guy and he was caught spotlighting. The state of OK confiscated the guys new diesel pickup, his gun and fined the hades out of him. He is also banned from hunting for life.

I like deer and deer hunting. I like being able to do it, but unless deer become really scarce again I really don't care much if a guy takes one, anyone illegally. Don't advocate it, but I don't care much about it either. It's only natural that people who need to be somebody feel the need to break the rules to be somebody when provoked. To me it's more manly to not provoke someone than condemn them after they do the crime.

I'm just as happy for the guy who takes a young deer as a mature one. Others, many others don't feel the same and share the blame for what this poor guy did.

hMMM....I hate to disagree but I think the harsher the penalty the better. Lax enforcement/punishment only serves to encourage more of the same kind of behavior. I used to hunt up by the power lines by Greenwood Lake and seeing headless, legless carcasses left to rot was a common sight. I'd turn in those skunks in a heartbeat and if I had to, I'ld hold 'em at gunpoint till the warden got there. And the reason is that it's a GAME. Nobody's starving who leaves a carcass to rot after taking antlers and hooves. They deserve to lose everything the law prescribes as punishment for that sort of thing. It's supposed to be fun and I consider poaching an obscenity. The guy in the article was trophy hunting...not meat hunting. I would somewhat understand an underpaid or unemployed local guy jacking a deer to feed his wife and kids but soon as antlers become the motivator, I'd say take the gun, truck, deer, license and a good chunk of change off his hands too. I just don't like the smell of skunk...

This guy is dumb, but locked up for sure???
You would have never seen an article in the paper had the guy killed a doe out of season.

He would have never got caught.....He shot the darn thing in the middle of the city! Everybody knew this buck. It lived in the park. There are close to 100,000 people that live in Troy. SE Michigan has approx 5 million residents! Why did he take the picture? Too show off what a proficient hunter he is, hence the reason he posted the picture on a Michigan hunting forum, thats how he got caught.. But you're right, had it been a 1.5, or 2.5 year old doe to feed his family, he "would'nt have TAKEN a picture."

I understand. I just don't get all worked up over the death of an animal unless there's cruelty involved.

Really is no reason to take one for food. Just get on some law enforcement lists and they call when one gets hit. I am and up until about a month ago all was good until some deputy dog called me into town and when I got there, no deer. The darn thing wasn't dead when they called me... got up and fled. Got his name and said somethings to his fellow officers that hopefully ribbed him about it. What did he expect me to do with a live deer? Wrestle it to the ground and strangle it?

Guy needed to be seen as somebody, well he is now!

Guys like him just might. Read a while back about one that kept a journal. It was used against him.

Gotcha...I kind of agree...there are other laws to deal with cruelty...
