Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

There's a lot more gun owners than they show in that statistical data. Still, it's pretty sad that more folks don't support a great organization like the NRA. Their primary objective is to preserve our rights to own firearms and hunt.

It's my understanding that there are roughly 75 Million gun owners, and roughly 4 million NRA members. So, closer to 5%. Some gun owners may be members of other organizations, like GOA, some may write a letter now and then, but, the majority seem to be content riding coat tails... Membership in NRA helps much more than some lone "crackpot" writing a letter every once in a while... There's power in numbers and EVERY gun owner should be a member.

Very true statement. i've been an NRA member for over 50 years. When some gun control stuff sneaks through congress and into law those same fence sitters whine that the NRA did nothing for them.

Only about ten percent of NRA members ever contribute to the NRA-PVF or the NRA-ILA. It is a very sad situation when a law abiding gun owner refuses to give the price of a premium six pack of beer to a pro-gun organization.

The NRA is the big boy on the block when it comes to gun rights organizations. How many times have you heard far left gun control freaks like Chuckie Schumer whine about the GOA or the JPFO?

I used to be an NRA member, until i realized that its all for nothing...
The NRA and PETA and all these "rights organizations" all feed off each other... and they need your money to do it. All you do is pay them to fight for your "rights"... where does that money go?.. no where... ask the NRA for their expenditures sometime...

Anyways, I realized this when the NRA sent me the only piece of PETA propaganda I ever recieved... and I lived 2 blocks from PETA headquarters in Norfolk... Never had heard or seen a damn thing till the NRA raged up and sent me all their propaganda..

Its a fear tactic to make you send money like sheep... Its a weapon organizations including the government use to keep your ass in line and sending money and support.. while they piss down your back.

I wonder how many car owners are members of AAA? Percentages is not a good way to determine ownership of anything!

If it was all for nothing, politicians wouldn't be whining about NRA being THE most powerful political lobby. The left wouldn't be trying to enact campaign finance reform that would muzzle them. The republican surge in 1994 is credited to a large extent to NRA. Where doe s the money go? It costs money to run political ads. It costs money to fund lawsuits and file amicus briefs. It costs money to get the message out. It's a very small investment to help fund a very large voice. Don't you worry though... my coat tails have got you covered...

I know several hunters, sportsman, gun owners who do not belong. They are cheap anyway. If there is something they can let others pay for, they will do it.

Its just the way it is. People want to stand for something, until you ask them to put thier money where thier mouth is.

There are some things they do that I don't particularly care for, like sending unsolicited dvd's and then dunning for payment. But, I'll shoot them a check to ILA and PVF every so often... It's particularly important in this election cycle, with such idiots in the Administration/Congress, and the potential to put pro-gun candidates into a lot of seats currently occupied by anti's.
