Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Hmmmmm and they fired her. Wait to see what happens when her teacher's union gets involved. She will probably get her job back with back pay.

CI, its a 'charter' school.

Here's the video (scroll down the page about halfway down):

What if anything did the student do to instigate the "fight"? I find it very hard to believe that the teacher just decided "beat" the kid for no good reason.

Of course "little Johnny is a good boy", is what the parents are probably saying to every camera they can find.

That's a good question. Not sure. I read that he was teasing one of the other students. One of the other administrators is claiming that he had been at it for weeks. Other than that, I'm not completely sure.

But here's another good question:

What do you think a 13 yr-old boy could do to deserve to be beaten, kicked, and dragged around a classroom in front of other students by an adult teacher?

If you did not watch the video, you cannot fully appreciate what transpired.

Truly surreal, wasn't it? What in the world was going through her head??? Did you see how she threw the desk aside first?

It was at a charter school here in Houston. Mostly troubled kids. The kid was supposedly making fun of a mentally challenged girl while she was dancing. Not sure what that "stalking" maneuver was... Looked rather ape-ish... The kid's mother has filed suit against the school.

And, since it's a charter school, apparently, no teachers' union.

Also, the "teacher" has been arrested, I believe, on an outstanding warrant for slashing someone's tires.

can't find the taped beating on the link...maybe they took it down....but I saw parts of it on TV. Looks like 'old tyme schoolin' going on there in Houston....hehehe.... was schooled by Franciscan Brothers in high school and I can say that this was a common occurrence and not very traumatic at all. This was back in the day when you went home and said you got a beat-down by the teacher and your parents would beat you down again for disrupting your teacher. So, I'm sort of biased I guess...so the kid was a brat, and the teacher went a bit overboard. So what ? All that will come of this, is that there will be legal action from all sides but the kid will still be a little troublemaker. Lotta energy...results of no use.

like bergall, i was regularly physically disciplined by the good sisters. they used everything from an open hand, to a wall, to yardsticks and a whiffle ball bat to enforce discipline. i don't think ultimately i'm any worse for the wear and tear, yet at the same time i'm glad my kids are not subjected to the same standards.

in none of my beatings did i ever have the feeling that the good sister (or brother, in high school) was out of control. it was cool, methodical, physical discpline. this teacher, on the other hand, seemed completely unhinged, and that is terrifying.
