Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Oklahoma Mother Abandons Newborn Twins

A mom abandoned her newborn twins at a fire station in Shawnee, OK and then called 911 to inform them. This is legal in OK.

The babies are doing well.

Shawnee Fire Chief Jimmy Gibson said he was shocked when he heard the news but not surprised.

"I think people recognize the fire station is a safe place -- a place of security and that they are going to try and make things right, and I think our members did that," Gibson said.

Oklahoma's safe haven law allows mothers to surrender unwanted children less than 7-days old to first responders while remaining anonymous.

At least she was smart enough to do it the right way. By using a "safe haven". However, the smarter thing would have been to use protection, or even better not done the deed.

Secondly, where is the father in all this? What choice does the father have here?

legal here too, though all the stories you hear here of abandoned babies are found in garbage cans, or alleyways, etc...
