Kinda off topic but has anyone in here been to india before?I have to go over at the begining of next month for work and will be there till September.Furthest Ive ever been from homes Canada and Im not sure what to expect when I get over there.
Think Ill be in mumbai and mangalore for most of my time there.
A coworker of mine went to India to attend a wedding. Of course he and his wife made a vacation out of it. They only went to the areas that were tourist-friendly, I believe, and they had a great time.

Get your shots. I think there is a malaria vaccine you can take now. You can take vaccines for Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B now. Consider taking prescription medicine for diaharea (Cholera). Find out in advance how you will obtain medical care if you need it.
The above is just being prudent. I wish I were going to India for four months. Take every opportunity you can to do things. Go to people's houses for dinner. Try to get out of the cities to the country -- enlist Indians you are going to be working with to be your guides.
Of course, it gets DAMN hot in India during these months. I live in Texas, and I was once bragging to my Indian boss in my last engineering job (I have transitioned out of engineering to patent law, a much better position) about how hot it gets in Texas. He gracefully shot me down pointing out that he is accustomed to seeing temperatures in the range of 120 degrees in the summer time in the part of India he was from.
My brother-in-law spends two weeks each month there each month and loves it. Now he is spoiled he has a private chauffeur, body guard and stays a secured luxury hotel.
Thanks guys.Ive gotten my vaccinations.Still have to get my malaria meds but i have the prescription.Soon as my paperwork goes through Ill know a little better when Im leaving.
im actualy kinda looking forward to going, just wish it was a little shorter trip. The companies already got guys over there, looks like a pretty decent hotel Im in.Theyve got someone driving us back and forth to work but other than that Im on my own for gettting around I think.
Theyre supposed to have me a phone and internet access when I get there.Ive already met a few of the guys Ill be working with that are from india.I found out quick they have a , well ,different way of doing things.I cant be my usual charming self because they seem to find it offensive, gotta be a little more carefull how I address problems with them because they dont forget once you piss em off.Kinda like me in that regard I suppose LOL.

Although I've never been to India I used their guide books a lot in my 20 years in the Navy, they are pretty good!
