Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Court Orders Father of Dead Marine to Pay

the court costs of that "church" in KS that pickets the funerals of deceased GIs. In 2006 Phelps and his fellow scumbags picketed the funeral of a Marine who was killed in Iraq.

The father of the deceased Marine sued Phelps and his "church" and won a judgement in the millions. An appeals court has over turned the verdict and ordered the father of the dead Marine to pay Phelps court costs.

The father of a Marine killed in Iraq whose funeral was picketed by anti-gay protesters told Fox News he will defy a court order and not pay the protesters' appeal costs.

Albert Snyder, of York, Pa., told Fox News he does not intend to pay $16,510 to Fred Phelps, the leader of Kansas' Westboro Baptist Church, which held protests at Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder's funeral in 2006.

"I don't think I'm going to be writing a check until I hear from the Supreme Court," Snyder told Fox News on Tuesday. "I'm not about to pay them anything."

The Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit ordered Snyder on Friday to pay Phelps. A two-page decision supplied by his attorneys offered no details on how the court came to its decision.

I find the story odd. Why are the protesters labeled as anti gay and what are they doing at a funeral of a marine who died?

Why no details of how the court came to it's decision? I thought I read the SC wasn't going to hear the case.

Nice of Bill to pay the cost.

Sounds like the first court denied freedom of speech all be it very inappropriate and the second court upheld the freedoms the marine died for. Freedom must be allowed mistakes. I only say that because people simply do not understand what that means. These protesters must be allowed to do what they did as long as they don't infringe on others rights to be just as free. RIP marine, job accomplished.

The cost stinks, why isn't the first court being made to pay for their mistake? That's the real stick in that marines eye. The court eared and should have never allowed the costs to rise as they did because of their poor judgment. If the SC does hear it I hope they right that wrong and make a ruling that puts pressure on lower courts to take responsibility for their poor judgments. Even the second court if they find they eared.

A good lesson for people to learn on why that old custom, never speak ill of the dead was a good one. Few honor it today and they always sound just as crass. I remember some mother who lost a son protested during Bush's term. She also didn't receive the respect she deserved for paying the ulitmate price. Funny, the date of this case was at the same time I think.

That's a bit strange. They won in the lower court and the loser appeals. Then the appeals court awards fees and costs. I'd like to hear why.

I'm glad the father is sticking to his guns & refusing to pay. I don't think those scumbags in that "church" should see a dime!
