Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Is this a race targeted tax?

Imposition of tax on indoor tanning

Bill: H.R. 3590 Patient Protection and Affordable Care ActStatus: Awaiting President’s signature
Description: A tax of 10% on the amount paid for any tanning service.

How many blacks or hispanics go to tanning spas?

Just look at who is shoving this racist crap into a vote, none other than Charlie "Crooked Ass" Rangel, the blackest man in Congress and a proven racist.

I think I'll lose about as much sleep worrying about anemic-looking white people paying an inordinate amount of tanning tax as I will about smokers paying an unfair amount of sin tax.

This one is not real high on my list of serious issues.

Don't like it? Sit under the sun instead.

What if that tax had been applied to something that only affects something you care about but don't necessarily have to have instead, would you care then? You're lying if you say no. This one is blatantly racially motivated. Sunning the conventional way doesn't produce the same result as a tanning bed either.

The question is, what's next? Taxes on cigarettes (though I heard that there was some kind of regulatory exemption for menthol cigarettes that are predominantly smoked in the black community), taxes on tanning (clearly not used very often "in the 'hood")... Pretty soon we'll have other taxes aimed at forcing a healthier lifestyle, based on the premise that doing unhealthy things creates additional healthcare costs... (Any bets on whether the fast food tax will exempt Popeye's?) .

What happened to the promise that "I will NOT raise taxes on ANYONE who makes less than $250,000 per year"??? I bet that cigarette tax raises a heckuva lot of money from those making less than a quarter mill...

So... Will there be a tax credit so that people making under a specified amount won't have to pay the VAT?

Just put a tax on toilet paper and be done with it. It will effect everyone and they will make a bundle.

aye...a bundle of our money.

The social engineering that is going on vis-a-vie our tax money was never intended by the founders of this country. The power to tax has placed way too much power in the hands of politicians.

When government officials decide what we will and will not do, things have gone too far. It is no longer "government for the people" but government governing the people and the people paying for it.
