Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Obama makes 15 recess appointments

If any of you read that link I posted yesterday about Jefferson you'll get a kick out of this.

The move intensifies an already bitter partisan atmosphere in Washington and Republicans swiftly condemned the action for sidestepping Congress, which goes into recess for its spring vacation on Monday.
Recess appointments, which have been used by both parties, evade potentially difficult Senate confirmations required for senior federal posts by making the appointments on an interim basis when lawmakers are out of town.
Obama's Democrats lost their 60-seat super majority in the Senate in January, denying them the votes needed to overcome procedural delays by Republicans.
Obama accused Republicans of playing politics by obstructing his nominations, and calculated the appointments had already been held up for an average of 214 days.

We knew what we were going to get when we elected him, or rather when the incompetent ignoramuses of America voted in.

Already began a post on this. Recess appointments are the power of the president and yes they all do it. However, has any president ever appointed someone AFTER he was rejected by a majority vote of the full Senate? Becker was just appointed after losing 52 to 43 in a Senate vote. That is saying the hell with the Constitution. Harry blocked Bush from making anymore recess appointments by never going on recess anymore. Now more than ever I hope the Republicans gain control in the Senate and return the favor.

Let's also not forget after 9/11 and well into Dec the Dems were blocking/stalling all confirmation hearings and Bush's staff was almost 50% vacant because the Dems were still pissed about Florida.

The bright side of this is the appointments are only as long as the congressional term which is November. John Bolton was a recess appointment but I would have loved to see him as a running mate to Dick Chaney!

I was more amused with the link between what took place when Jefferson took office and today. The same talk happened then.

Seriously nodog, has a president ever appointed someone after he was rejected? You don't see a serious problem with that?

All presidents make recess appointments. Clinton made 139 recess appointments. G. W. Bush made over 170. Obama is just playing catchup. Those political criminals who are out of power traditionally whine when a president makes recess appointments.

No he's not. Becker was rejected by the Senate in a 52 to 43 vote. Has a sitting president EVER appointed someone after being rejected by the Senate?

Every president in modern times has used recess appointments. They do this in order to fill the federal government with politically correct hacks who wait with baited breath to carry out the wishes of their benefactor.
