Spineless gutless worm, the commies will win this one at least until the states get their cases filled, it is against the constitution for the fedeeral government to mandate spending by the states, pretty clear cut. Surely they would not wipe their b utt with the constitution again would they??
This is the guy who is running against Stupid in the upcoming election. He is gaining Facebook friends by the minute. In the last hour he has added a paypal contribution link, and he will be receiving my contribution just as soon as I see his commitment to win. He looks like a great candidate.
he was posturing to keep P&O off his back until he could come forward. Also got a ton of publicity free for his Mid November runs. He can always say I held off and pushed back iuntil they signed that order, I didn't cave yadayada

Supposedly Stupak reached an agreement with Obama to the effect that Stupak's abortion funding concerns would be addressed in an executive order. I guess that seems like reasonable approach. Stupak was never excessively doctrinaire about this -- he offered a broad variety of language that would assuage his reservations. My understanding all along was that it was only the abortion funding issue that prevented him from voting for what otherwise he saw as an acceptable healthcare bill. Will Obama be a man of his word and follow through on the executive order? Don't know. Will the executive order have long term effect? Don't know, other executives after Obama may not maintain the same executive order, such as a subsequent Democratic President who didn't give Stupak any assurances. So I don't see this as caving on Stupak's part.
Don't get me wrong, I dislike the bill very much. I also hold out hopes that the fat lady has not yet sung and it isn't over yet. This has to get through the senate. If there are ANY changes, the house will have to vote again. Still, it looks pretty discouraging from this point. I guess the way forwards is to remember in November who voted for this bill. My two Texas Senators and one Texas Representative are all Republicans who have consistently voted against this legislation.
