Interesting question. What "devices" were not ours?
Problem is we are left to our own devices or vices. Only the intervention of God keeps us from ending it all. The bible talks of an end. I think people have wrongly assumed God will do it. I think He will just stop keeping it from happening. Took God 7 days with a rest period to create the world and according to the Bible man will destroy it in 7 years. Reminds me of a joke where man claims he can create a human and attempts to prove it to God. God says fine go ahead. Man reach's down for some earth and God says "hold on buddy', "that's my dirt", "get your own". Man can't even destroy the world as fast as God created it.
