Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Government waste at it's best

The US Census office. So we all know about the million dollar plus super bowl commercial. Last year I got one of those extra long ones in the mail and assumed it was the census. I began to fill it out, skipping most of the questions because they were too personal and not required by the Constitution. Then I saw the part that it was a trial run, so I tore it up and in the trash it went. A month later another one came saying they didn't recieve the first one. I think I threw it out again. Then another one came and I realized these idiots were serious. I replied back in big letters, quit bothering me with this crap, send me the normal form when it is reguired and I will fill it out. Never heard from them again until today. I got a letter telling me I should get the official one next week. OMG, does anyone care that it's our money they are wasting in DC on this crap? I guess Obama has found away to keep postal workers employed a little longer.

FM, was the notice that informed you that it was a trial run printed on the vital form or was it on a separate sheet.

It was the long version form that I heard so much about. It wanted detail that in no way would I ever give voluntary to the government. They said the purpose of it was to guage the acceptance and see how well it would do. They found out what I thought of it. They will find out again if the send that same form to me.

My concern is if these multiple trial forms could find themselves counted in the census.

You two spawned my interest so I went downstairs and got my Census letter addressed to Resident. They just wanted to inform me that a week from now I would be receiving another letter..
The thing I found interesting was at the bottom telling when the Census form arrives I should go to 2010census.gov. This was in five languages. (I wonder if they will give laptops to those without computers)

I wonder just how much this junk mail cost us.

good point. It was an official letter. I can't remember where on it, seperate letter or on the form, I saw it was a trial run.

I cannot remember a trial run in the past, am I wrong? With the prospect of millions of trial runs, there must be an army of auditors viewing the data, making corrections and then notifing citizens where they erred.
