Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Here's to Starbucks - supporting open carry

Good for Starbucks. I don't patronize the store but hats off to them for standing firm.

I have issues against personally carrying unconcealed, but certainly am not against others practicing open carry. I think it's great when a company stands by common sense. If Starbucks were to make themselves a gun-free zone, I would think that crime would go up as they would be advertising to the criminals that no one will be armed to stop them from being criminals. I'm glad that Starbucks sees it this way too.

I heard about this too. What I heard is basically they support state laws....so if a state supports concealed/open carry whatever, they're basically not gonna post a sign or something saying no guns in our stores... etc...

I really don't see why citizens are surprised when someone carries open or concealed when their state allows for it...but ya probably way more concealed carriers than open...so these people probably are grossly unaware just how many people carry concealed in there states vs. open carry...

I think it's been a few years here since a "Lane Bryant" store was the center of a killing spree, not sure if it was a robbery or what, but I think 3 people were shot/killed, still unsolved I'm quite certain! Just imagine if we had concealed carry here and one of those women were carrying! Or if we had concealed carry and a store had a policy of no guns in their store!

Open carry would not disturb people if it were a common practice.

I don't open carry, just too many a-holes that get bent out of shape when they see anybody but a cop open carrying, especially the cops. If you open carry here you're pretty much begging to be hassled by them, even though it's legal here if you have a handgun permit. Maybe the cops hate the competition, or maybe they just feel threatened.

I love living in Texas. I was stopped a few years back coming home from my land. I had a 30-06 setting in the front seat beside me. When the cop pulled me over, he asked if I had any other guns in the vehicle . I told him yes. He asked to see it. I pulled it out, unloaded it and handed it to him. It was a 45 acp 1911. He and I talked guns for a bit, and went our way. During our conversation, he had forgot I was stopped for going 15 miles/hr over the speedlimit.

This happens frequently in TN as well. I only carry open when I'm hunting so sometimes going into a store for gas and such. No one says anything but I still don't try to cause any extra attention. My favorite is when I have other CCW holders come up and let me know if I'm printing. Gotta love the family of gun owners!

"Were we to adopt a policy different from local laws allowing open carry, we would be forced to require our partners to ask law abiding customers to leave our stores, putting our partners in an unfair and potentially unsafe position."

I don't know, to me this statement sure makes it sound like Starbucks doesn't want to ask legal gun carriers to leave their stores because they are afraid some of these gun owners might go postal on them! LOL Yeah, they may be going along with local laws, and not wishing to ban guns from their stores, but this statement is a far cry from supporting gun carry laws.

Sounds like they're in the business of selling coffee, not making policy, sounds good to me, do what you do best! lol.

It's the term given to the ability to see one's concealed weapon through a shirt/jacket. Showing the "print" of the gun through your shirt.

One of my holsters is bad about it, but oh so comfortable to wear. So I always welcome it when other's tell me. I've done it for others and they have always thanked me. Most people don't want to draw attention to the fact they are carrying. I've seen people kicked out of resturants (when they had a legal right to be there) because it was showing. Just best to keep it to yourslef.

Also, back to main subject, I agree that Starbucks isn't so much "pro-gun" as much as they are just wanting to stay out of the conflict and not hurt sales.
