All these people whining about the Canadian womens' hocky team celebrating with beer and cigars after winning the gold medal. I didnt see it. Did they start popping tops as soon as the final buzzer sounded and flicking ashes on the opponents or something. Or is it just sour grapes on the other part of losing nations because they won on their home turf and wanted to celebrate.

I don’t know? When I was running track at the national level, the French pole-vaulters would smoke cigarettes while they waited to vault. And the German throwers drank beer all day long.

Not sure of the timing. Don't think it was "immediately" after the game. I think the stands had cleared out, so, probably a mountain being made of a mole hill. Nonetheless, smoking and boozing are poor imagery for the Olympics, and at least one of the girls was underage for drinking in BC.

Considering all the doping scandals, showboating during competition, smack talk among athletes and between athletes and coaches, etc. I would think that a woman cracking a Molson after winning a gold medal should be pretty low on the long list of things that can tarnish the Olympics. Dunno if the underage gal was actually drinking. Everyone else was of age. If they waited until after the game was over and simply came back out to party a bit with the local fans then I dont really see a problem with it.

They could've partied naked for all I care, they deserved to after taking the gold. BTW, if anyone has pics of any such naked partying please PM them to me so that I can make an informed decision on the matter.
