Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default would like an explaination

it seems like Obama had a good idea, just sayin. I havent had the time to look up all the details, but we could definitely use a bipartisan committee on reform and balancing the budget, imo

Dont have a explaination-

But off hand/on the surface it sounds ok....

But really likely more of the poltics of covering ones(obamy & the party in powers) hineys - so one then can spread the blame around when things go wrong.( and it looks good- like lipstick on a pig)

Although Obama's commission will lack any requirement for Congress to act on its advice, it will provide some political cover and big-name backing.

Good old Al- i wrote him a personal letter once back in the early 90,s about laws to restrict more firearms that polticans where trying to be pass at that time- He said dont worry about it they dont want our hunting guns.

Thought for a min maybe i had sent the letter to chucky shumer by mistake( turns out he & chuck are pretty good buds back east then/hanging out together)

He just didnt get it as far as im concerned- i dont/didnt want him comprmising or making any deals for any gun grabbing period.

Simple, it amounts to nothing but a publicity stunt. That goes for any party who decides to do it. First, we elect our congressional leaders to pass a budget every year per their constitutional duty. It's their resposibilty to carry that out. The president passes that budget with via the stroke of the pen. Memebers of congress got the line item veto declared unconstitutional right after it was passed years ago. However, that doesn't prevent the president from vetoing any budget and sending it back with lines all through it.

Now, let's look at this commission. First it's stacked with Dems. There is no such thing as a conservative Dem these days. As for the Republicans, it is stacked with moderates no conservatives. So I must ask you, what progress do you really expect to come out of this? Next, everything that is a problem is off the table. 2.4 trillion dollars of the federal budget is on autopilot. That means it grows and passes without any chages. What's on the table now ends up being 1/6th of the federal budget and tax increases. So bottom line, this is political cover for Obama.

FYI, there is 1 trillion in deficit spending unspent right now in the bank. 500 billion in repaid tarp money and 500+billion in the unspent sedative bill passed when Obama took office. If he was serious about deficits, he would cancel that spending and pay down the debt. Instead, he not only plans to use the tarp funds as his little slush fund and continue with the failed stimulus packagfe of last year, he signed/ signing to raise our debt ceiling by 1.9 trillion.

This gives Obama a way to blame someone besides himself when high taxes on the middle class come rolling on in. Perfect political move.

I also see it as a P.C. stunt that will cost more money. There is a simple way to stop spending,,,,,,, Wait for it,,,,,,,,,,,, STOP SPENDING.

Whoever gets appointed to this committe, you know they will not have the common sense to say that you cannot spend your way out of debt.

The next step is the removal of opposition. Here it can't happen without a vote. In order to do that the people must be convinced that the one who seeks the power to dictate is worthy.

Saddens me but doesn't surprise me that this tread starts with not seeing a problem. Our government is set up with checks and balances for a reason. This idea blantonly violates that principle and people see no problem.

Keep this in perspective, before Napoleon could take control as a dictator he needed to get the people to give up the right to vote. Believe it or not he got almost every voter to vote to eliminate voting. The number was like a million for and a thousand against. Hitler did the same, Germany had only been a democracy for around 13 years before he forced the vote to declare him dictator and he promised he'd only use his new authority in extreme circumstances.

The time is coming when the short few years needed to prepare for a decision will no longer be available. The uneducated will be forced to decide and blindly.
