Your analysis is partly right. The only part I would quibble with is whether there is now much room for Democrats to uncook their goose. It is sort of like when that pass from Peyton Manning was in the air and Porter was stepping in front of it, ready to pick it off and run it in with less than 4 minutes left to make the score a 14 point lead for New Orleans -- the damage was largely done when the ball left Manning's hand. So with the Democrats. Regrettably, many of them did in fact vote for the Stimulus package. Please remind me how many Republicans voted for the Stimuls package? Zero? Regrettably, many of them did in fact vote for the Healthcare package. Please remind me how many Republicans voted for this Healthcare package? Zero? If Republicans are smart, they are going to heavily and consistently remind their consitutuencies of what actions their encumbent Demcrats did and how cruddy and stinkin' awful this legislation was and how awful the process of ram-rodding this legislation through -- votes on weekends, little transparency, vote on it as soon as possible so public can't see it. The damage is done, and lots of Democrats are going down, unless the Republicans are so brain dead they don't know how to handle this windfall Democrats have delivered to them.
What's funny is that day-after-day the Obama administration keeps piling up more nooses for these guys to hang themselves with. Isn't Obama now pushing for yet a further stimulus package -- a "jobs" package? Oh, yah, like that makes me feel so much better. Piss away several hundred billion dollars and I feel better because it is propagandized as a "jobs creation" bill. NOT!!!
