Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Windpower in Texas

Wow, for such a conservative state Texas has really taken a ton of money from the government for the biggest scam we will see in our lifetime.

Windpower!!!

Texas ranks #1 in Megawatts produced. Do a little research on the total scam windpower is and how our tax dollars are paying for it. Just suprised that the "Conservatives (LOL) in Texas would rape the american people by taking money from the government for something that doesn't work unless US pays for it.

Funny Iowa right behind them, another "Conservative" LOL state.

MW Installed (be careful, the numbers assume 40 MPH winds all day every day)
Texas
9,410

Iowa
3,670

California
2,794

Washington
1,980

Minnesota
1,809

Just remember it will never make economic sense to install windmills unless US pays you for 75% of it.

Yeh, just like solar is going to generate so much. We've been saying it all along.

What a maroon.

I agree that Solar and Wind are a total waste of time.

My point was the ongoing hypocricy of the Texas Conservatives taking the most of any state in the US to build windmills that will never payback.

As suggested, I looked into it a little... From half a dozen different websites, it appears that your requirement for constant 40 mph winds to generate full power is not accurate. All of the websites I saw said that the generators produce full capacity at only 10 mph.

With regard to your underlying premise, has "Texas" taken all those federal dollars? Or is it private companies doing business in Texas? And, don't most, if not all, other forms of energy supply also receive federal subsidies?

NoFreewind.com

Take a look at the facts. This is something I follow very close.

I am sure the guys that took the handouts for their business's to build useless windmills were liberals anyway!!!

I think BHO himself doesn't really want the libs to succeed with cap and trade. His speech last month if anything was intentionally weak and did nothing for the international "Green" community. The Greenies were all pissed off about it.

Gotta love BHO. Again doing what is good for America.

This statement is correct, that they only need 10 mph winds to keep them at full power. They are building them to be more modern than those of yesteryear.. Maine is currently piling them on as well. The biggest thing being looked into right now is off shore windpower so no one can complain about the whooshing noices.. Also the fact the wind is pretty steady once you get out off the coast a little ways..
Another thing is tidal turbines! One in small scale model is currently running and is being watch by the military for a base in Alaska. The Coast Guard here is using the small scale model for studies. So power from under the water created by tides is something that has been worked on for years but now has come close to reality.. It sucks to rely on other means for getting power..
