Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Haiti vs. New Orleans

Wonder if BHO will react quicker than Dubya and company did and send help and relief to those poor people??

I wonder if given the chance with ample warning, if the Hatians would've been smart enough to get out when the authoritys told them to!!

Howler, Read up on the ath of Katrina and how much warning they really had.

It wasn't even the actual Hurricane that did the damage. It was the levee's, which NO was given the money to fix and never did.

Yep. Which makes me all the more anxious to give away my money, my property and my rights to the State. They OBVIOUSLY know what they're doing!!

Yes they should have been punished for not listening to the weather man. Good for them. I am sure everyone on this board would always do just as the gov't asked.

Especially when that gov't had the credability of Cheney and Dubya.

Not unlike any of the mountain climbers, boater and thrill seekers that constantly have to be rescued by the gov't and other public health rescue forces. They should just let them rot.

That is your theory correct??

Yeah... The response after Katrina was all Bush and Cheney's fault. No blame whatsoever for Nagin and Blanco.

It's been over two days now... what's Obama done? He "pledged $100 Million" in relief aid. Dispatched a few ships to the area. Really not any more than what Bush's crew had done in the same time-frame...

Ipsy is right. Nagin and Blanco blew it big time. Now FEMA has developed a new type of Rapid Evacuation Vehicle (REV) specifically for New Orleans. These will get folks out of town fast if Nagin can find drivers.

I think a good comparison would be Haiti and the Tsunami.

Yeah, IF I knew there was a small chance that a big ass hurricane was headed to a city that I lived in, that is below sea level with questionable levee's to save me, I wouldn't have to be told twice to travel inland.
Which brings up another point, why on earth spend millions upon millions to rebuild levees when there are those that are telling us that the sea levels are going to rise 20' in the near future. Just how damn high are they going to build the levee's before they figure out that having a city below sea level is going to keep costing us billions every time a huricane comes along!

Those in path of Katrina had a choice, those in Haiti didn't, plain and simple.
