Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Why No Tort Reform

Could it be because both Republicans Democrats in DC are into the pockets of the trial lawyers? The Association of Trial Lawyers even changed their name so that the acceptance of lucre by political hacks would seem more palatable to the folks back home. They are now called The American Association for Justice.

If you check the professions of most pols before they entered politics you'll find that a large percentage of them were or still are lawyers.

Two reasons tort reform wont go.

Like you said, lawyers are in the back pocket of politicians. Just like Howard Dean said, The democratic party has to many trial lawyers.

In the Republican defence, they have proposed it and had it tabled. So I get that to mean the same as this whole junk bill, its our way or the highway, with the dems.

Looks to me like both of the guys you posted took in way more money from doctors, hospitals, insurance companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers and nursing facilities than they did from lawyers. But, somehow they're only in the pocket of the lawyers? Just an observation...

Over 30 states have already enacted tort reform laws. Some states have enacted them, only to have their Supreme Courts overturn them. I believe we've had great success with tort reform here in Texas, and believe that each state should enact a similar law. But, I'm torn on the issue of whether it's a matter for the feds, or a States' rights problem.

ipsc
I feel it needs to be the states rights. Feds need to give back many of the states rights they have already taken.

The trial lawyers are the single biggest contributor to the Democratic party. NO REFORM will happen with the Dumbocrats at the helm.

It's Bush's fault.

In the run-up to the vote on national healthcare, Mitch McConnell was making loud noises in the US senate about national tort reform. Ever wonder why Mitch never even tried to pass tort reform when the Republicans ran everything? Yep, old
Mitch is in the pockets of the dastardly trial lawyers too: Matter of fact lawyers are his biggest contributor. McConnell is a hypocrit.
