Some top ranking DemocRATS that is. Chris Dodd, Byron Dorgan, and at least one or two others aren't even going to try to seek re-election this year. I think they should be required to live on the same SS and healthcare plans they have stuck the rest of us with.

You nailed that one, Rats jumping ship. I don't blame them, why spend the time and money to get your ares handed to you in the next election. Another member of the party might have a cut dogs chance of actually looking decent and not get blown out as badly.

Its a good start, but until ALL of them with a "D" after their name is gone this country is still going to go downhill...

better not forget some of our breoved Pubs' as well. Dems aren't the only ones retiring, I beleive the old Pols are going to get ripped by the young bucks. Whole new set of problems and be acting like BHO to get elected. Smooth talking clean cut and talking about change. Those words are not gone from our lexicon w/ his election they will be reused again in 2010! One of the first Dereps (dem and repub mixed breed)to go should be Spectorate!

Personally, I think the whole damn bunch oughta go....all the Democrats and all the Republicans. Start with a clean slate of non-career public servants instead of politicians. Initiate term limits. Stomp out the "good ole' boy network" and all the politics, money, favoritism, cronyism, and dirty dealing that goes with it. Elect people who will genuinely represent the public's best interests. You know why none of these things won't be done? We all think the other person's representatives are the problem.....not our own. Things won't change until we all admit that our own representatives are part of the problem. They all need replacing.

After thinking about this a bit, I dont think it is Dodds choice. I think the party told him to quit so they didnt have to pull a Leiberman on him. Remember, this is the guy who ran for POTUS last year. Its hard to think he is so willing to give up his power so easily. I guess he got more sweatheart deals to leave, just like the Country Wide deals, and all the other crooked stuff that has got his constituents P.O.ed.
